Re: ENGINES -- MEKE THEM GO BACKWARDS
why the harshness? i don't see the why not part about this tbh. sounds like a good idea imo. idk about full force thrusting, but 50%?
vener cyls are 300 some size? only thing thrusts like an engine, for functional comparison, would be something like that.
btw timmeh... radish torch's thrust you forwards... fail
how about 50% thrusting backwards?

how about 50% thrusting backwards? Yes, so you turn around an use it. I was offering alternatives to the choob.

Re: ENGINES -- MEKE THEM GO BACKWARDS
can you imagine an engi backward thrusting and gremming while he tractors someone? or sniper navigating backwards to a warp trying to run, sd's doing... anyone ever play sin city and reverese then brake to skid out the car and do a 180 only to come about face with momentum and accelerate? This could be brutal!

No. Not unless the ship is specifically designed to reverse thrust and has no SSS. Or reverse is the SSS, whatever.

No. You can go play starport if you want reverse thrust.

In most games you move at 1/10 maxspeed when going backwards.

Re: ENGINES -- MEKE THEM GO BACKWARDS
It would look ugly on most ships unless they were redesigned.
It would make kiting too easy. It is already extremely easy.
*insert all arguments about spake brakes here*

Re: ENGINES -- MEKE THEM GO BACKWARDS
Judging by the poll ..
The player base is split on this idea 50/50.
So those who DID vote yes, can you help me out with some good points about reversible engines ? :O
I cannot fight this battle alone :'(

Re: ENGINES -- MEKE THEM GO BACKWARDS
the agility would be increased but only to those who aren't idiots with backwards thrust left right coordination. why not. make it between 10-50% and it would hardly be broken.

Re: ENGINES -- MEKE THEM GO BACKWARDS
Also for backward thrusting a seperate key would be desirable to backwards thrust.
That way those who oppose it would not be hindered by it.
Perhaps 'y' because y does it not have a function!
