PvP isn't dead, it is as it has always been - covered in problems. The only real one is that there is no reason to PvP anymore as setups are so generic and there is no reward. I personally think that being able to mod gear was an absolutely terrible idea. In fact I would say it is the worst addition to SS after the removal of aug stacking. Then there is the fact that EF are a peaceful team, Traders arent an aggressive team either, TDC are somewhat PvP but small for the most part and the rest of the teams don't warrant mentioning yet.
I doubt many of the current players experienced to DM vs USA war which was long, bloody, exciting but ultimately frustrating as it went on too long. The better wars were the older uni wars with pants and merc back when Bizman was active and ran pants. Wars aren't bad they are epic but there are no longer enough teams for big wars as the playerbase is too small and you can quote whatever stats you want but we all know that if playerbase is growing that is because alt accounts are. I have 5 accounts but pre retirement I had 2 so there is +3 for admins stats. I don't even consider myself a pvper anymore because it isnt even a willy waving contest anymore just a case of he who bursts first wins. _________________ Clear all your cd rack wont get none of your cds back! I see a lot of discussion about PVP here...
This game was suppose to be based around team galaxy domination and zone control. Ultimate prize? To be claimed emperor. DGs? UZ? That was all there to supplement the PVP, get you the best gear, make you viable, give you the edge. This seems to be oblivious to a lot of people. Where did it all go wrong? Who the hell knows. My bet is with the care bear populace that seems to get enjoyment out of doing the same DG over and over again and sitting afk while colonies make them money. Say what you want about SS1, the gear glue system, it's flaws yadda yadda, it's fucking pixels, who cares if you lose some, you can get them back, PLUS more. I seem to recall logging in right after school and playing till late at night till i had to go to bed, day after day throughout my early high school days. I was addicted. I was addicted because the game was fucking FUN, it was AWESOME. Only a handful of games have provided me the enjoyment that SS1 did. PVP has always been my forte, it's the ultimate challenge in video games, to compete against other players. Personally i don't relish figuring out the systematic programming of AI and exploiting it over and over again. Me and my buttbuddy from old, AcidFlame have been on the endless search to find a game to provide the once abundant joy this game provided. But alas, no such game has satisfied the craving. But it is what it is, just a memory for me to come back to forums and splurge my gooey nostalgic emotion all over it's face, like a bad porno. _________________ Julian wrote: blindside is the guy who fetches us our beers. The harsh truth is that people who enjoy PvE to the exclusion of PvP in most MMO's are much more common than those who do not.

The amount of people who prefer PvE over PvP that can cause major losses to any participant is very high. Games like LoL, SMITE or DOTA prove that if there's nothing to lose, people love PvP. _________________ Star Sonata is not ready for a release on Steam. From what I understand, even during the "golden age" of games like Ultima Online, the people who didn't want to PvP outnumbered those who did. thecrazygamemaster wrote: MasterTrader wrote: The harsh truth is that people who enjoy PvE to the exclusion of PvP in most MMO's are much more common than those who do not. LoL technically isn't considered an MMO. _________________ http://www.starsonata.com/suggestions |
