If anyone has a very rough model or sketch or even a written description of possible models and other art and whatnot for C2, might as well post them here so we can keep all concept art in one place. Once a model gets going we can make individual threads for it, but this will be a place for roughs.
I'll start with the below image. High-Capacity Transportation - Behemoth: The Behemoth is a ship often used to pump colonies, picking up many peasants at a time and taking them to a new home to build it from the ground up. This colonial use often requires the use of a fleet of shuttles taking people from giant transports in orbit down to the surface, but starline companies wanted a way to cut out the shuttles. The issue with landing a big ship, even if it is aerodynamic, is how to support it on landing gear once it's landed. One solution is to just have many sets of gear lining the belly of the ship, but this cuts into cargo space. The solution for the Behemoth was to use combination of smaller landing gear and anti-gravity fields. This allows the Behemoth to land on most planets and support it's own weight, but there is still one problem: anti-gravity fields take energy to keep online and energy lost is profit lost. The solution to help the previous solution: make the Behemoth into a seaworthy starship! When landing on many terran and oceanic planets, the Behemoth, with a hydrodynamic keel, can land in an ocean or sea and forgo the use of any landing gear. This saves energy from anti-gravity use and also allows the Behemoth a convenient place to dock! - The CopernicanWerks Guide to Intergalactic Starships and Space Stations Center of the Free Markets of the Universe - von MIses: von Mises is considered by many space travelers to be the most important trading hub in the known Universe. The space station, located in the aptly-named galaxy of Free Market, was built to be a center for economies unregulated by EarthForce. As such, the market station has become a draw to many a starship captain with his or her eyes on high-quality goods, some of which are not available anywhere else. The station itself is mostly unregulated with only a small staff of administrators keeping things in relative order. Still, von Mises is not perfect; while the hub of the station, the Inner Market, is the place to find great gear, the station's ring, the Outer Market, is a place where you might find black market deals and even the occasional wacko ranting on about "purple munchkins" to anyone who will listen. Still, if you want some of the best gear in the galaxy, or want to make some credits selling rare commodites, von MIses is the place to go. Addendum: The design of von Mises is structured around the Inner Market, with tall spires and big companies occupying them. The Inner Market is accessed via spokes that lead in from the Outer Market, which is home to most of the docking bays and smaller companies. Two trains run along the perimeter of the Outer Market to ferry patrons around the ring in quick fashion. and holographic billboards hovering about the docking bays entice visitors to check out various goods around the station. The symbol of von Mises is a stylized shield based off of the family coat-of-arms of the station's namesake, 20th century economist and free market advocate Ludwig Heinrich von MIses. - The CopernicanWerks Guide to Intergalactic Starships and Space Stations More informative entries, including Rock Harbor, Blue Outpost and Ice Matrix to be added tomorrow. Forgot to post the color version of the von Misses logo. Below is the coat-of-arms it's based on.
