While it will be somewhat confusing in certain situations (such as with best and better burners) I think the initials under the item will be the easiest way for us to glance up there and see what we are looking for.

I am of course going off of the images posted only and not gameplay as I'm not a tester, but the other alternative looked very "busy" and it took me what seemed like a few seconds to make out exactly what I was looking at in each box.

As with anything though, over time whatever is chosen will become commonplace and we will all get used to it and it will be fine. However, for the new player, which is important I think to consider, Initials will be the easiest for them to associate with the various items. New players could have trouble remembering details about the item such as the damage type and so forth, but the name is the first thing you learn about an item I would suppose.

Initials look kind of ghetto, though.

Now that i think about it, we get no indication at all, right now, of what shit we've got hotkeyed, why do we need something more now? :-P

Because you can have as many hot keys as your screen can fit.

Why did you choose to put them in that big font instead of the nice small one that was used when you had all the names scrolling? It might be better to use that small font and just display the first bit of the name (no scrolling) whenever two or more of the same type are hotkeyed.

Dude, this is SS. We don't appreciate simple common sense fixes hear, away with you!

Mmkay heres my idea; when you press a hotkey a confirmation window pops up and a confirmation code is sent to your email address at which point you will put the code into the confirmation box. Then you will begin a survey asking you why you are using this item and what you like about it. After you have completed this survey you will need to mail in 2 forms of valid ID to the SS administration. At which point they, via carrier pidgeon, will send you a letter with the name of the hotkeyed item on it.

Could you make it so when the mouse goes over a hotkey button it will present the full name of the item/tweak?

It already does much better than that. You get a big tooltip window with name, stats, and item options.

Who needs scrolly text or letters on them then  . After-all the player puts them in the hot-keys in the first place.

Exactly. Any player that hotkeys his stuff can remember what's what. That's the point of hotkeys after all, to use something quickly. Besides, if the name is just a mouse scroll away, do we need anything else?

Maybe you guys are right. We can leave things how they are for now and get more feedback later.

If I understand the issue correctly why not give us the option of giving the boxes different colors? For instance I would make my damage tweaks say red, my shield tweak boxes blue. Just little things to help differentiate.

You can do this to a degree, just not differnt tweaks. Coloring your icons for items will achieve this in part. Or if it is decided the the effect icons will go under the main icon there could be some way to enlarge those. Too many colors just looks silly.
