I've seen some chatting about the logic of space rats and how they affect the game's image when it comes to selling C2, so I had an idea for how players can be introduced to the vermin once they are out of the revised Nexus. Rats Location: Enforcer Station, Sol Agent: Ahab Mission: Ahab's Training Ahab wrote: You step out of your ship after landing in the Earthforce docking bay and notice a rather sleezy-looking old man headed towards you from across the way. Several Earthforce officers notice him and groan as Ahab pushes by them and walks up to you. "Ahoy there sonny, me lad! Arr, I be facing a crisis here. For years I've been chasin' down and torpedoing these big space creatures called 'space rats.' Er, they have some sciency name, but that's what I call 'em!" You just stare at the old man with a cocked eyebrow until he continues. "Yar, anyways, I'm too old to hunt them nowadays, but I still want to wipe out as many as possible, as they are intergalactic pests you see! You'll have to search for them beyond Sol, and they live near hollow asteroids that they cover in a yellowish organic goo; I call them 'space cheeses!' Get it? YARHARHAHAR!" You start to back away towards your ship but Ahab slaps your shoulder and contiunes. "If you can prove yourself and kill me 10 of these space rats, I'll find more work for you and maybe get you off to a good start on your time in deep space! Arr ye up to it?" *Credits given: 1500000 *Experience given Summary I guess you have to start earning money out here somehow. Just go find some of these "rats" and get your pay. I wonder what this lunatic really wants... From there you might could have more missions that explain the origins or the biology of the "space rats" or something. This way, they can stay around logically and be used as an early mission once you've left the Nexus area. |

Space rats are a set of missions mid-way through the new Nexus. I think they are funny, and worth having, but we've definitely kind of put them to the side a little bit, so it's no longer like "Space Rat Central" when you first start the game. Also, their levels and strengths have been upped a lot, so they should be more interesting now. |

They have such shit turning that an Aether Scout with a Sebastopal rapes them fine at level 4 or so. Also, Copernicus, where have I heard, "I'm to old to hunt ____ any more, can you go out and kill some for me?" before... way to copy my "Hunting" missions... |

Actually, that didn't even occur to me. I was just thinking of Ahab as some washed up old coot trying to use you to have a last hoorah. |

Yes, Rats are much more dangerous! New players might actually get killed by them now DarthFirebert2 wrote: Actually, that didn't even occur to me. I was just thinking of Ahab as some washed up old coot trying to use you to have a last hoorah. That's exactly what Ahab is -- think of an old Sea Dog who's stuck hobbling up and down the docks, staring at the ocean, hardened and filled with regret and anger at the tragic run-in with a rabid seal that cost him his leg. Then replace the ocean with 'black void of space' and the seal with 'Space Rat'. Calypso |

Depends on the universe you're in. In my universe, Ahab was a land whale who got his fluke bitten off by a rabid human. |
