Post Re: PVP
That doesn't make sense, Camsy. If you could completely fix your damage by scooping the parts you dropped, that would make death cost nothing. The point is that you are meant to carry around spare parts at all times. This is why I say it makes more sense to make the whole thing mediated by credits alone.

What I'm trying to say is that in c1 with gear glue, when you died there was a 50% chance your gear glue would be saved which basically equals: 50m everytime you die (assuming you have gg20) now with the new system they're saying it'll be 250m each time you die, and not only that but every time you die, you have to make your way back to an ai station to get fixed. When I went out leveling as a gunner in c1, I would be hours before I'd even have to think about docking at an ai station even after dying a couple of times.

Camsy...

If repair costs are raised to approximate the cost of death with GG (and I hope they will be), piracy will be staggeringly lucrative. Think about why before you comment on the subject again. :P

Where are you getting 250m from? And did you really carry more than 10 GG on you for DGing?

As a SD in an AWC, if you use a Zeus Oly Radar, Zeus Oly Energy, Heph Blazing Hammer, Heph Coppersmith Shield, Ares Overloader...thing, and Ares Knackered Engine, THEN, it will be 250m to repair it.

Notice the lack of anything not T21?

Your leveling gunner doesn't use all tier 2-3 T21 gear. It is pointless to comment on the eventual cost of death in the repair system since it obviously hasn't been decided yet.

[quote="sabre198"]The issue with pvp is that u dont win a lot now, not that you dont lose a lot. Pvp should be made profiable as should pirating, but not to the catastrophic loss of the loser.
[quote]

The problem with giving rewards for pirating is that unless someone loses something, you can essentially generate infinite credits or rewards.

For example, if I put a mission in that says "Kill 1 player, get 100 million credits", what's to stop me from having an un-teamed alt killed over and over so everyone can get their reward for pirating? If all I'm doing is taking the gear off that alt, then it breaks even, and there's now no incentive for abusing the system. However if you make pirating rewarding, then someone *has* to lose something for the economy to remain intact.

I don't see a way you can encourage pirating without either having ways for players to generate easy rewards or inflict grief on other players.

A stable economy inhibits balance between trades, ones plays loss is another's gain. Although the player who lost must have some kind of advantage to where he can redeem credits from being attacked.

All of that is already happening so it wouldn't make a difference.

As for pirating, it is as simple as this:
Decide to become a pirate, One or two people will get you booted from your team, every other team in the game will be threatened with a war if that person is invited to their team.

Here is the one system a pirate will go by:
1. Pirate
2. Lose
3. Kill people
4. Lose
5. Create a team and kill people
6. Lose
7. Warred by everyone in the game
8. Lose
9. The Wannabe Star Sonata Police put bases outside all the layers of space
10. Quit.

Yeah, pretty much. But it's completely unreasonable to expect that if you mess with people, they won't mess with you back, and probably a lot worse as soon as they are given a chance. That has nothing to do with Start Sonata and everything to do with life and how people are in general.

Thats exactly what happened to me, type /wars in SS, I got that for standing my ground and speaking my opinion when I was asked to :)

Post Re: PVP
The problems with that is:

1. The political web of friends - mess with someone, more than that team responds full force. Therefore it is beneficial to be neutral and never pvp.

2. People need Bases to upgrade - A pirate or pirate team still needs bases to get better or provide additional income. Destroy them and pirates quit.

3. Teams are much too friendly - They should be [forced to be from the admins] paranoid and band together for mutual protection from "outsiders".
