I have a gunner. Mostly HF. cba to fly ugliness such as a dread. my missle dps seems fine for most things. it's all about learning to properly use the ship and make the missles go where you want em. you don't really expect to fly your speed demon directly at an enemy, do epic dps, then fly away do you? i would hope you learned to DODGE! the same thing goes for a gunner. you have to learn to distract your target so your missle doesn't get blown up. it REALLY can't be that hard if I figured it out.
don't get me wrong. not all my missles hit their target, but most do and those that don't save my shields. while they are doing that, I am doing dps with my weps. but guess what! i am STILL SPAMMING MISSLES! one gets blown up, i launch another one. that IS what they are there for after all. yes. the class seems a bit weak and is getting worked on.. excellent. but as far as missles, i don't think they are either underpowered or overpowered at any range. i have leveled 3 characters with the same setup. literally, i got the necessary skills to use it, then just transfered the ship to the character with all the same gear. then guess what i did.... i would go grind on MF reavers and get 1100 levels in 3 days. OP? nah. because people can do that now with snipers and no shm(which i had). so......SHHHH.. let AEM do her job. when gunners get a beef.. i won't neeed to jump on the bandwagon... cuz i am already ON IT! Honestly, my main complaint about missiles is that they're BORING. Well, that and they're too hull-consuming. Then again, i'm using a pax battle frigate, soo....

Type /outfit, might help your PBF. Also, check out the Lyceum, Locus of Fleet / Ordinance testing facility, might be a couple of surprises there as well. |

@Cygnus
Still, I advocate that the majority of obtainable content should stay away from requiring any kind of player-operated base to interact with. Any and all classes should NOT have to use bases unless you want to go out of your way to get stuff. Yes, bases should still be used for advancing a character. But no to making bases the most efficient and only way to do so. _________________ Salt Assault drew this conclusion from the latest devblog. |

I do, but I don't like the idea of GOING OUT OF MY WAY TO BUILD AND DEFEND A GALAXY to advance the basics.
All classes, any playstyle, you NEED bases to do anything in SS over a certain point. You need bases to pirate, to dg, to skill up. Because theres no other way to do so. Even the Trade Skill To Be, Prospecting, is tied to bases to advance the character. Thats the trade skill for people WITHOUT bases. And it needs bases to advance the player's character.... _________________ Salt Assault drew this conclusion from the latest devblog. |

And it needs bases to advance the player's character.... this is true. what is also true, is that only 0.005% of the population enjoys base management. this limits SS's playerbase to: people who dont have jobs and dont mind spending all their time working but not getting paid. which is great if you're looking for a pool of people to recruit volunteer workers from, it sucks if you're looking to create a successful MMO. tl;dr - if you enjoy bases, there is something wrong with you. if you expect people to put up with bases in order to play enjoyable parts of SS, then you have seriously overestimated the enjoyable parts of SS (or, as an aforementioned "crazy person" you consider base building an enjoyable part of SS, which very well suits your other favourite pasttimes, "waiting in line at the DMV for hours" and "filling out tax forms" |
