Maybe if parts crates were added to universal loot? Kinda like GG, except possibly a bit more common. The idea being the same reason why parts drop from playerships.

That way, if your kill/death ratio is high enough, you could go forever without needing to dock for cheaper repairs.

Congratulations on devising a system that is, unthinkably, even more annoying than gear glue. :P

Equipment Repair Drones

Single use item, upon activation, repairs all equipment over the course of 1 minute for X amount of credits, also usable with parts.

Calcutron, summon the math gods to work out a way to make gear glue accessible to lower levels, but expensive at the highest levels! FIX THE SYSTEM FOR THE LOVE OF WEX

I like the new parts system as long as they fix the kinks in it.

GG benefits those with high tech gear + money(colonies).

GG does not benefit those that do not fit the above category, and stagnates the total versatility of setups by forcing people to tech up instead of tier up, effectively halving, or more the potential of the game.

Pros of GG
-Easy to understand
-Easy to obtain
Cons of GG
-Takes space on low hull ships
-Catastrophic loss potential
-Cannot get more on runs

Pros of Repair
-Easier to understand
-Can repair on the run
-No catastrophic loss, period
-No space used(non parts)
Cons of Repair
-No "Trophies"
-Parts gets annoying to carry in a HF/LF

So, basically, a repair system trumps GG system by a long fucking way, having as its pros everything that the GG system cannot cover, as well as everything the GG system uses as its advantages. In other words, repair is all of GG and more.

The two "disadvantages" of Repair can be easily remedied, if people were not narrowminded twats.

1. GG was often seen as a kind of Trophy. How many people you killed. An even better system can be used for that, in which a game like EVE Online already uses. The Kill Mail. A report on who you killed only accessible by the killer.

In a sense, it'd be a type of Black Box only the killer can scoop. It will disappear after a short while so be quick. It is Neurobound. It would just list: Level of Player Killed, Ship that the player was in when killed, and Team the player was on at time.

2. Remove Scrap Parts altogether while keeping Repair. Just make "Repairing without AI Base" cost more than "Repairing with AI base".

Repairs cost more if you use higher tech gear. A player must balance using higher tech, and higher tier. Higher tier gear is the same tech as a lower tier, but more powerful.

Same with higher tech. A high tech gear is stronger, but same tier. The power increase(to the balance sheet) is identical to the tier upgrade.

Overall, a higher tech item can be more powerful, but the idea is that high tier, but not necessarily higher tech, gear could compete with a high tech gear.

For example, a Mzungu High Strike is T17, but its stats resemble a Primal Rhino Endurance more than a T17 energy. The effort went into obtaining the High Strike is actually greater than the PRE, because the balance sheet took into account the fact the player did not get 3 more tech upgrades.

But the potential of T20 gear is greater than the potential of lower tech. Mods and upgraded versions would go further than lower tech, which is the main advantage for using high tech.

The advantage for using lower tech(yet high tier) is the fact that a T17 item costs less to repair. A player who sunk 150b into really high tier gear would pay, maybe 100m per death in repairs. A player who has pure T20 gear and sunk 125b into the setup pays 200m per death. It may not seem like a lot, but for a person whose in a lot of pvp, whether pirate pvp or team based pvp, lowering the cost of death, especially when you consider on the fly repairs is whatever you pay at the AI base +x% more.

An on the fly T17 repair may cost like 150m. But a T20 on the fly may be 500m. Was it really worth the lower initial investment for the high tech gear to pay 2.5x more per death when you are in the field? That si the question a player must ponder over.

I mainly made this post to see what the are adding next uni, and I guess blue dwarf answered that; Next to nothing.

Swear to god though, the graphics in this game are just getting uglier and uglier. Physical weapons are way to small, they look like shit.

The new content I said about reads: 30+ new ships/AI, 80+ new items (including the ships)
