I guess the question is one of basic philosophy. Do you think that every planet in every galaxy, or near enough so, should be able to be a profitable colony, or should planets capable of being a profitable colony be rare and exciting to find, and a challenge to string together to form a coherent team territory?

I think I would rather have a vast Wild Space with great planets few and far between, than a compacted small Wild Space where every single galaxy has several great planets.

Take a gander at the space to the north and a bit west of Dark Traders. Traders originally built there but had to move because almost done of the galaxies have enough planets to do anything with, never mind what their suitability and commodity distribution is.

As Rhys says, inhospitable planets aren't nearly as bad as no planets whatsoever. And he's one of those few who do 50+ colonies every uni.

Why not make the universe packed with commods? Go the complete other extreme. It means people scanning gals find lots of stuff, way more than they can claim, therefore they get their friends to build in the gal, but these are just small pockets with say 70% of the uni very bare, so your team finds these gals jam packed with commods, builds in them, the couple of gals around that are also full of commods, and then they need several connectors or ppl ok with having a lesser quality gal to get to the next commod pocket. This'd keep team spaces smaller, and give new teams places to lay their bases and grow.

What do you expect when you make the uni 4x to big?

I'd rather some 'sanctuaries' spread throughout the universe: a cluster of 4 or so galaxies with a high% chance of producing 'good' planets and a reduction in overall quality. There is more likely to be conflict over a patch of space that is clearly 'good'.

Jeff I can understand the need to remove cash from the economy. I even understand why you did this, but what I do not understand is why you did this with no prior warning to the players. Had we known we could have INVESTED, in TF commods, prior to reset, and been ready for this.

I also understand why you want to create BvB buffers. I certainly would not like to listen to whinny bitching customers who have lost entire systems because they can not defend what they claim. But if BvB is to still be considered a fact of life of this game these things have to stop. You've effectively segregated the teams in to pockets, with dreg systems between. If a massive war does break out. The nooby players in the systems between the two teams will be wiped to reach the targets.

I find it hilarious that this mirrors so much of real life.

The time investment it takes is insane. Simply saying someone does 50+ colos does not delve into how difficult it is. Would be like me saying I am one of the few folks who makes multiples of every single t3 Oly item, isn't that just ridiculous?! Should prob make them more expensive or reduce the drop chance.

To be fair colonies are overpowered anyways. If hese getting 50 a uni then he must be making billions. Who cares if that number is reduced the colony system is simply a farce as a means of making money, way too easy.

I for one don't make colonies, therefore I am biased against them!

+1 for a complain post since no one bothers to complain about colonies since it's just one big ass benefit.

Absolutely worthless, are you trying to destroy the playerbase..
Honestly, who can abide by 37%? 63% of the pop...40% of those are newbs who are happy with it..

The only way someone can run 50 whilst producing the MFM/EXE/STM/CA slots to support it is to sub over 8 accounts at least (Taking into calculation account base slot limits)

If they are paying $80 a month, they deserve to own 50 colonies with no penalties

Not exactly 8 but you definitely won't manage this with 3. Not to mention each of those accounts needs to be almost fully exploited for the full amount of base slots and the MfMs needed.

People who say colos are mindless and easy don't make large amounts of colos, simple as that.

If this is the future of SS then we need a terraforming line for gaseous planets and also we need to make sure that terran planets are fairly common so people can get oats and beobabs (yes only terran planets provide these). Not sure how to solve the terran one, make more terran and add more low gravs or something not sure. In any case making sure that people can feed their planets is pretty important.

Aren't Gaseous planets also the only kind that produce the scan result for "Storm Crystals"? Would be a bit OP if I could also get that to 125%.
