Post Re: Petition to hold exploiters accountable.
The whole point of a punishment is to discourage other people from committing the offense by way of showing what will happen to them if they do.

Crimes are public. Sentences are public. Criminals cannot hide. You will forever carry a black mark on your record. For minor to moderate stuff, a public execution tends to stop people from trying that again.

If in real life there's a bank machine spewing notes out and they send the person who found it to prison, but they couldn't fix it for another month. Do you think nobody will try take the money again before they fix it?

Difference is that everyone is aware to not do it and don't accidentally stumble upon a cash machine spewing notes out, meaning if they then continue to exploit that cash machine they can be held accountable for their actions and sentenced too.

In SS, you get a slap on the wrist and be on your way. Admins will never truly risk you permanently leaving the game. How long did Fruits and Fly go "away" after they got caught with Mandy doing exactly that, handling a credit duping bug and sinking about 100 trillion into the game economy in a single day? About 3 months.
