Would there be any interest if I proposed to run a SS PvP tournament? Would be multiple categories such as:

Class vs Class (ie. SD vs SD, Seer vs Seer, Engi vs Engi)

Freestyle (Your best class vs, someone's best class)

t20 and under

lvl50 category

lvl 100 category

2v2

3v2
etc.

Hell yes, i think some dev attention would get a lot more players to participate though. Players have tried organizing stuff like this before and just never seemed to work out for one reason or another.

Meh, could give it a try, could get a rep in every large team, put it in the team message.

Sounds good to me. The original clone is always the smartest.

Nothing crazy, just a dev being the one to coordinate everything would give something like this a lot more attention. A blog about it, giving us a time and date and general rules, and devs being the referees of the tournament. Perhaps we could even put the competition on twitch while were at it. Make it a weekly/monthly event depending how much attention it gets.

Rewards should be like a holoprojector or something silly like that.

Why admins/devs should announce this type of stuff? Community should be able to do this. But some kind of dev involment could be useful. Some imp seals or trophy items/ships for winners could work.

Grow some balls and arrange own community events, guys.

1. Easier to get credibility for the tourney if a Devmin helps/does the organization and sticks it in the SS News.

2. Much wider audience in attendance. Forums account for an angry 10% of the playerbase. Word of mouth gets you to 20 or 25%. The point is to get the content across, and word of mouth isn't a guaranteed victory. Also spreads the word to people who might record a tourney.

3. A lot harder to have unfair matches or technicalities if the Devmin can just announce what people are using.

Agreed, use the opportunity to record for a new trailer.
