Post New server for steam release
I honestly think this game needs a new server if it's going to open up to a whole new playerbase, with the server we're currently on that has players that have been playing for 11 years exploited bugs without consequence made trillions through base building every uni have a massive headstart, which i might also add games that have been out for 5+ years go to steam and don't get any new players because they read reviews and see how old the game is and then they decide not to try it at all because of of the catch up gap.

If you unleash a swarm of new players into this game while there are people who are years ahead, griefers that are years ahead they will most likely quit due to being unable to do anything to stop/catch up. Just like that time when SS opened up and advertised and we got a huge player base increase for about a week and then it died down and a few stragglers stayed, The rest quit after a few days/hours because they played and realised how far behind they were and how much of a huge commitment this game is to catch up.

If you do get a new server for the release on steam i suggest locking t21/t22 and slowly transist into the new techs, this prevents players with 5+ years experience getting massively ahead.

The way i see it is, the games in a very dire state, You really have 2 choices and both a pretty risky, appeal to the new players and take a chance on them being your new player base, or appeal to the old players and have a small increase in playerbase but keep the current end game players happy

SS can be rather intimidating to a new player, imagine you starting a game, going to the main city and seeing half the player base is level 5000~ and you're a level 10, you're going to be thinking "fuck trying to catch up to that"

Pros
#1 Every basically starts equal(With the exception of knowledge)
#2 There will be a lot of fun active PvP/BvB like in C1 when we had a playerbase
#3 makes new people think game is constantly upgrading with the locking of t21-t22 therefor it would hold peoples attention much longer
#4 A lot of old/Pro players would come back due to the new playerbase and population of the server
#5 The most important of all, It will give the game a more new and fresh feeling which a lot of players look for
#6 also lets the devs pre balance t21/t22 the way they would of wanted it now that the player base has had their suggestion on things
#7 with a lot more attractiveness for new players, the game will have a much bigger playerbase thus making the game more competitive then it currently is where it's basically 1 guy with 10 accounts MCing vs another guy with 10 accounts MCing and you're servers made up of 30 people with 10 accounts each

Cons
#1 Increased server cost
#2 Might upset the other server due to most players quiting to start anew for new competition
#3 Could possibly fail and bring no new players(Highly doubt)
#4 Require preparation time i suppose

Comments or more pros and cons for the admins to look at please add, I would love to play SS with a proper playerbase like it used to be

i suspect 13 will just get himself into a position to grief the new players at a much lower level by using his knowledge of specialist setups at all levels of play. Within a very short time those with knowledge and who can afford multiple accounts will be light years ahead of anyone new. would you then request a new reset?

Skilled and determined players would be able to get to the stage of Prawns with bursts within a month from new server launch.

Well, that sounds fun. :D

Did anyone actually read then post, he wanted the server to be t20 as the cap until the server was ready for t21, locking the gals that hold t21 would be pretty easy, the server would only really work if you locked content and did the game at a smooth pace, I honestly don't think the current servers going to get any new player in its current state, as you said griefers are already set up to grief on the current server, and new Players have 0 fighting chance compared to a new server

Honestly I couldn't expect any of the current endgame players backing this up just because they're already set up and years ahead, and the start of a new server would be the death of the old one

No. Star Sonata is about things happening in 1 universe, not 2. You'll definitely see a displacement when it comes to where your players and the politics that happens. And I'm sure not too many people are keen on the idea of starting over again, even though this isn't really a reset.

True while some people may be discouraged looking at the differences, that's not to say a lot of them won't continue to try. EVE has huge differences between new players and vets and although intimidating, it doesn't really discourage a lot of players away from the game. Really its the complexity of the game that would usually turn away new players rather than the vast differences in power.

They should reset EVE every month because it's not fair for noobs.

EVE has catchup mechanics, items and ships (and neural implants) are constantly cycled out of the economy, one person in a really powerful and expensive ship with powerful and expensive gear cannot wipe out a squad of less wealthy players, and bases in EVE are really tanky and require a whole fleet to take down and go into a lockdown period where they can't be damaged for a period of time based on the amount of a certain type of resource they have. Oh, and you lose everything but your character and skills when you die.

I don't think EVE needs resets because they technically have a mini reset every time a player/squad/corporation/alliance gets destroyed.

I also do not think the game is as easy as people are saying it is for end gamers, even if you have all the game knowledge in the world. Organizing people to do this stuff would still be very hard.

I'd lose all my billions and the tons of stuff I had stored up... but hey.

That's why i suggested a new server instead of wiping the current one, to keep old players happy, and i don't know if you have relised but 1 guy can wipe the server out in SS because of multi clienting, and attracting "noobs" is the only way i see SS becoming populated and fun like it used to be, and it will also bring back early-mid game play again which would be nice. I know a few old players as well as myself just can't get back into SS as much as we want to because of the massive commitment to catching up and since there is not much of a playerbase I'll have to solo content which means I'll need around 6 accounts to do t21/t22

Splitting an already small playerbase is bad, mmkay.

Are you implying that no one will play this game on steam release?

I am saying that the SS playerbase is small, but it is not a box office AAA game. There are no thousands of people patiently waiting for Steam and SS has not been advertising at all for the past few years. Steam will garner more people, but it's nowhere near as big as you think.

And now you want to split it.
