The last few weeks i have seen multiple 2D gameplay space MMORPGs that look strikingly similar to SS, both as advertisements on reddit and on steam itself. This means that this sub-genre of MMOs is receiving more attention than ever before. Albeit the gameplay style and strategy approach of those advertised games is not 100% the same as SS (and none will match it imho), but those are head-to-head competitors to SS in terms of overall game style, graphics, and atmosphere of the game. A few years back SS had a wonderful advantage of going on steam competing in what seemed to be a niche blue ocean of MMOs, and i am fondly believing that this game was truly ahead of its time even before SS2. Surely the steam release is long over due, yet the game is genuinely still ahead of its competitors, and there is no denial it will prosper with more players after being out. My point is, it would truly be a shame if this game doesn't get the attention it deserves. |
