Open Conflict for F2P!
One of the best things about early Star Sonata was the risks associated with regular gameplay, things like stasis generators and person versus person conflict; it usually meant you had to make you way around the galaxy's as polite as possible trying to make friends instead of enemys! I'd like to see the return of open pvp/pvb/bvb for f2p's outside of warp-0 in EF Galaxy and Nexus! This way you'd bring back some excitement to the game, some risk, some need to be respectable, some real need to fortify your positions (bases) and protect your trade routes. Ok, some would say that wouldnt this mean angry people on a daily basis? I say "No", it will just reinforce the need to be friendly as apposed to agressive. Sure you'll have roaming "pirates" but that was also a classic measure of greater gaming sociology with Star Sonata. Keeping peoples shops safe in warp-0 is probably a good idea ofcourse. However there should be a measure of realistic seperation between F2P's and P2P's, at least that P2P's couldnt take advantage of underskilled and leveled F2P's engaging in conflict, and also not take advantage of their trade routes. ie. P2P's shouldnt be allowed to PVP+ F2P's and vice versa! One sticking point would be the need for realistic PVP-Ranges for this old school open conflict. That is to say, none of the level 2500 can take on a level 500, terrible when its like that, should be more like a level 200 can take on a level 400, or a level 600 can support a level 400, but that's about it (Unless you turn off saftey-lock and attack the level 2500, then your on your own!)! Bring back the risks, the excitement and the need for sociological respects between players! It was FUN back then, and could be again. _________________ More Kills on the Simulator than anyone else in history! |

Addendum:-
The more I think about it the more I come to the conclusion that there shouldnt be any form of protectionism for anybody, f2p or p2p! That is to say that things should be entirely like they used to be, no shop protection for anyone anywhere, f2p or p2p! People used to have their shops in fortified wild-space galaxy's amidst owned or even protected territory's! That's the sort of risks that should return to the game, sum total risk for all players, f2p and p2p! Perhaps that's what star sonata has lost most, everything is at risk, your shop isnt safe unless you make it safe, and even then you take the sociological risk of loosing it all! It should be that way again! If you lose your shop, its either your own fault, or that of a pirate. Enough of the money making protectionism that the game has suffered from for far too long! TOTAL PVP, Everywhere, like it used to be - That's what Star Sonata needs! Bring it back, make the game "Great Again"! _________________ More Kills on the Simulator than anyone else in history! |

Welcome to the modern age, where the only PVP games that succeed are the ones that reset everything after the fact or make PVP inconsequential.
EVE is the sole abberation to this new age law of game development. _________________ Star Sonata is not ready for a release on Steam. See this topic for what we think should be done about it. viewtopic.php?f=107&t=59132 |

PVP Ranges were just removed as they're just too easy to cheese.
Jeff has repeated stated he wants the EF layer to be a PvE zone while I don't agree with that entirely - it makes sense. The good ole SS days were also where the most people quit and the game didn't care as more people joined to replace the ones that quit. It really was a toxic environment. An idea of a high risk high reward zone has been talked about but it needs the cargo system implemented first. |

It would need some pvp rebalancing.
Can you imagine you and your squad are engaging an RNF-type boss. Then some gunner...WHO IS NOT AGGRO TO THE BOSS...comes over and splash kills the whole squad. Couple days later, you try again. This time you kill the Gunner. The RNF then kills the last member of the squad. His squad comes in, kills it, and scoops loot. |
