I can see two problems with keeping ships active in bases
1. If all your ships were 'active' and charged at all times, think of all the extra work the server would have to do, at the moment ships docked are just a 'dead' item and take up minimal processing on the sever, so this would lead to additional lag issues.
2. If all ship were active all the time ships that use fuel whould use it when you not in em, and a far bigger problem you wouldnt be able to put comods that have a half life 'on ice' buy chucking them in a ship and not looking at it, that is far worse than waiting a few seconds for your slaves shields to charge....

 Simple Terms for you Thumper and a way you understand.It is too broken and is not a bug.
Basically, what is going to happen, is your going to flame me, for disagreeing with you, then you are going to flame a whole load of others, for disagreeing with you, then, there all gonna be pissed of at you, and want to kill you repeatably, then one day your going to leave teams like Traders, where, people wont attack you cuz it would mean the chance of a conflict with one of the bigger teams in the game and they are gonna make your ingame life miserable by hunting you.
Now, here is some advice, dont flame everyone. you have not been playing this game very long at all, and yet you storm on in, and want everything to change to suit you and your needs, this aint gonna happen, there have been some good points made by you, and unfortunately more bad points, now, if majority of the player base disagree's with you, things are not gonna change, if majority agree with you, then the admins and dev team will more then likely take a look seriously at your post.
One other thing, post things that you think are broken in misc, the forum mods will take a look, and if think it is a bug, it will be moved to that section, or whichever relevant section they think it is needed.
