1+20+10 is a hard calculation?
Seriously, thats how it's calculated. _________________ Salt Assault drew this conclusion from the latest devblog. |

Yeah, thats pretty much right. Crit hit chance adds, not multiplies. Also, if you're invisible when you shoot, you get an additional 5% chance of critting.

SDs do get a crit hit chance bonus: Speedy Firing: +4% Rate of Fire, +1% Critical Hit Percentage, +1% Damage - these bonuses are scaled by your speed also, the base crit hit chance is 1% while visible. how do u calculate Crit hit chance? like, 1% Base, 20% SD Skill, 10% Augs. how do i come up with the final bonus? add. _________________ My User Page Join SS! |

Sideer wrote: After some more testing I have found a reason. Values below are damage caused to my own base (physical dampener, no heat dampener). Range ~150 22k crit with sniper fire, 17k crit with PSS Range ~2000 11k crit with sniper fire, 11k crit with PSS Regular damage constant with both weapons. I was also facing my target. After turning 180 degrees (efectively forcing projectile to travel more) I have noticed decreasing crit strength aswell. Conclusion is: Critical Strength Modifier scales down with range which projectile has to travel to reach target This is a bloody serious issue. Admin response? _________________ |

My guess? Changing the vis rates didn't work entirely as expected so they continued into other methods. Nerfing the PSS itself didn't work so now they have nerfed all range projectile weapons. To bad its makes building a Stygian Fist, Merc Mag, or other like weapons almost useless as I can get better DPS out of a Laser or other Beam weapon and minor crit additions. Some stats should be changed on them to balance them against short range projectile weapons such as the ZHT, Lion Quick Snap, and the like if this change should stay in. As is you can already get more DPS out of a Sniper by turning him into a Zerker. I know more then a handful of upper tier Snipers have gone MF and farm things with general ease. ~edited out~

In that case, its probably balanced. People should play a style because they like it, not because one is better than the other!

I will consider it a bug until I get confirmation from dev/admin it is intended change and I have failed to find such info on the forum so far.
I don't think I will ever reset my sniper to something else but I'm really getting tired of all the anti-sniper agenda. I might stop playing my sniper just for the time all the nerfs are applied so I can safely design my new setup. |

If you dont believe theres such a thing as crit damage resist, try mf bigger greens, they have it. As do all UZ bosses. Oly bosses have only crit chance resist thankfully, its slightly less broken. If you've never seen double and triple crits, aug for crit chance on a ship with decent rof and just start shooting something, watch them fly by. oh and yes, if they have crit damage resistance its annoying that it still says 150% despite clearly being more like 20% _________________ Pies are yummy. |

This has already been confirmed as a bug and Jeff has promised to get a fix in soon. I will have to investigate your claim that there is such thing as crit damage resist though.

His hits were scaling down... unless the AI had several of these crit resisters, it isn't explained. _________________ newman233 wrote: Lolwut? wrote: Bad kanga. You need a spanking. Kinky? By the way, /showdamage indicates i still get the same critical hit strength against BGs as I do against all other AI, so this would tell me that they don't have a special crit damage resist.
