to put things simple for snipers

long range medium DPS weapons (mag cannon/catapult)
low vis gear ship and nice cloak (gamma field/mobious coil)
use inbuilds on ships
keep an eye on your radar
kill AI 2-4x your lvl

how to kill:
stay low vis if close to AI
kill from distance, just outrange them

for a total guide it need some time to test and type it all out

Pretty much what Tbbt. Sniper is among the easiest if not the easiest class to play. Everything you'd expect a Hunter or Ranger to use and do, thats Star Sonata's sniper.

Sniper doesn't really need a guide.

Sniper is basiclly crap until you get into a t20 ships with t 20 augs and weapons with full sniper skills, then its uber. For lvling go with some other class until you got the skills and the money to get the really expensive sniper gear. There are medium sniper setups but from experience i can say that if you wanna play a sniper go for the good setups the medium price/ power ones really dont quite cut it.

Snowflake is a decent Sniper ship and with the right gear and tactics can take you well past level 500. What worked for me was an Oversized Catapult (regular Catapult might also do) with an AI base cloak, using some cheap augs like Green, Sniper Prowess, and Zeus. Ultimately, whether you succeed as Sniper will be determined by whether you enjoy the play-style. It takes more patience than some are willing to give.

Essentially, you just get a Spotty Beam (Sniper base in Lyceum) and your main Catapult weapon and go kill stuff from range. Don't forget to train up the Sharpshooter subskill and try to move slowly to keep your range bonus active. The Spotty Beam will help you keep stuff targeted at long range.

I wouldn't worry about PvP at that level, especially not if you are using a Snowflake with its heat vulnerability.

Snowflake can take you to 2200+. This is what you get when you have a relatively "high" level AI that only does one damage type and have a ship that starts out at 87% resist to that damage type.

So, I made a little setup on the shipbuilder with 94% resist to that damage type. Still a sniper. Same setup does a surprising amount of DPS for the tech and can be used for Olympus as a lowbie.

Here's an excellent sniper setup, both for pvp and for pvAI. BSS is t16, so f2ps can use it.

Ship: Bule super sidhe
Weapon setups: venusian magcannon//catapult** [overclocked][extended]/executionner cata, RoP**[superconducting][extended]// omega beam
Shield: Basil mega sheath
Energy: Oversized obsidian ionizer*[overclocked] (requires nuclear waste)
Engine: <<Terror>> already built into BSS
Equipment: Cannon mod, fire extinguisher
-Miscellaneous: paxian unstable shipscanner (obtain by aborting a paxius mission and redoing it)
Radar: Herbal sensor
Augmenters: athena, ares+, athena+ or ares+, athena+, solid rock (if u need range)

Slaves: Sergeant's enforcer, vicar

With this setup, you can kill off warden and tortoise zerks without trouble and can defeat t20 SDs and lesser t20 snipers, let alone t16s. I dont know what BSS mine device is, but its certainly very destructive. However, this setup is a little expensive and u might not be able to obtain a Bule super sidhe or herbal sensor or basil mega sheath or such. So here are some other setups:

Ship: Basil
Weapons: Catapult, RoP//snipers fire, equalaser//venusian magcannon
Shield: Basil sheath* Try [amplified][overclocked]
Energy: Basil energy (built into basil)
Engine: Moral emphasis
Equipment: Cannon mod, fire extinguisher
Radar: Angelic vision
Augmenters: Solid rock, adv. good rage, std. combined

You could try that on a snowflake, and the aug setup for that would be:
Green, athena, zeus
But only if you are p2p.

I hope this helps.

Any sniper can kill a slow ass zerk. Given enough time, a sniper in a Fluid can kill a Wattage or Prawn Zerk. It isn't because you carry better gear or are more experienced, it's the inability of Zerk to engage anything that can shoot it from a distance because of its speed and lack of agility.

It pwis to you, you pwi away. You still outrange it. It OBA's towards you, you OBA away. It cannot get close unless you're a "stupid retard", as you love to spam my inbox with.

My point is that I said, any fucking sniper from T16 or higher can kill any fucking zerk given enough time because the fucking zerk cannot engage the fucking sniper because the fucking sniper always outranges it.

You are a fucking retard.

I already understood that from my post about me vs Battlecruiser Hero (who btw, is he Churchill's alt)? Im now asking which would be a more useful sniper ship overall for a sniper.

If you think he's me, you're even more of a fucking retard than before. I have four accounts, all p2p. I choose not to sub three of them.

And 1v1 fights are never balanced unless you bring two identical ships. Try 5v5 fights before you blab your mouth off.

Well Mavrick thought a warden zerk actually had a chance of defeating me even though his reaver sniper lost to me in pvp. He's the retard then.

And your a retard for thinking qu'kuu the pathetically weak p2p is more powerful than I am, when none of your characters around my level would stand a chance against me.

The reason why Qu'uuu is more powerful is because he is a p2p. While you sit in your own feces, he can reach Panther seer and one hit you.
