I named/built that base, so proud. Obviously with Hooches wild mind behind the aug setups, but the pride is still the same.

From the words, of a so-called "professional" baser.

I mentioned several times that you can get unkillable galaxies, now someone is admitting to them. Nothing should be Unkillable, ever.

Quote the important part:

The key to an invulnerable system is the total regen power of the entire system. That means the total sum of all the healing that the system can do must exceed the total possible offensive power laid against it.

Theres is no known limit to possible offensive power is there?
So there is no invulnerable system per say.
Just how timeconsuming killing said system is for the gain.

To attack a galaxy, you must have an HQ link to the target galaxy. For every owned galaxy off the target galaxy, you can use 2 bases to BvB the target galaxy. If they die, they cannot be repaired, but 2 more can be deployed.

If your galaxy can withstand two pure DPS siege kits, it is invulnerable. Simply because there are places in Wild Space that you MUST use two kits if you want to BvB it. Take Sparse, for example. Assuming the galaxies are PvB-proof (defenders, plenty of defense bases, lots of grem), you must BvB through 12 or so galaxies with 2 bases for each galaxy, in order to reach Sparse.

Half truths get you half answers.

I was against the 2 offensive base bvb limit. But with the Advent of the t21 ships and the power they have I see why JeffL instituted it. If t21 ships are actually brought into line where they should be then fine remove the limit, or better yet, add t21 bases already.

I miss wasting trillions of credits finding this shit out with you guys(When a trillion meant something). Good times, also, I wonder if people will read into this and actually figure out how to properly siege as well as defend. Quite funny that this setup becomes standard like 2? years after its inception. But I'm sure you and biggee worked out something even more kickass :)

Keep it up :)

This post gave me a helpful kickstart to figuring out galaxy defense mechanics for myself. I still suspect that you are either a little bit behind the times (not terribly likely) or else not telling us everything (almost certain). But figuring secretz out for yourself is part of the fun.

One thing that troubles me in defensive configurations where most or all bases have both offensive weapons and shield transes is that bases will not reliably divide up their activity between healing and DPSing. This means in practice that your gal won't put out as much DPS as you are counting on it to do, if most of the DPS kits have healing weapons. That is especially problematic when you are defending against competent T21 PvB squads that in many cases can do more DPS than a pair of BvB kits.

Quick victories are nice and all, Everyone loves the 1 shot kill. I don't, I prefer a long drawn out battle where I know I will always win, I want the enemy to think they have a chance, I want them up close and personal, I want them to have hope. So I can take it away. Now your probly like OMG how can he say that. Its quiet simple, the best defense to to scare the crap out of anyone, so much so that they never return. So bring in your siege kits and your multiple teams of players, I need the glory anyhow. And feed them en mass to the grinder of my setup, and have them pay the butchers bill.

I don't quite see how that addresses the points I was making. :P

If that's your stance, then I think you will be using quite a few more bases to achieve the same level of security than you could otherwise use.
