This guide is meant for those who have trouble leveling alone. I found out this aug setup just by trying out random setups, and it worked quite well.

Augs:
1 Green Augmenter, Adds 50% energy, 10% Damage, 40% Rate of Fire, Radar 20% and Range 20%
1 Zeus Augmenter, Adds 30% Damage, Energy Recharge 36% and Range 5%.

1 Sniper Prowess Augmenter, you can use a proficiency augmenter if you lack the skills in Sniper Class, this aug requires 15 in Sniper Class! It adds Damage 20%, Decreases visibility by 15%, Adds Tracking 15% and Range 20%.

For a ship, use snowflake. Although it lacks some resists, the tactic is to outrange the AI.

These are the items I use. These may not be suiting for some, but it works just fine for me.

1 Mobious Coil, decreases Elec. Tempering by 10% and adds Damage 10%.

1 Pearly Gate, you might think this is a stupid idea, you'd be wrong - this low tech shield has low shields, but has high regen, which means that the sooner the shields are full, the sooner you can get back into combat.

1 Fire Extinguisher, this is a MUST! There are AI out there that use fire weapons, and obviously, your snowflake isn't made for fire.

1 Combined Capacitor III (DG Drop), this just adds more shield and energy bank.

1 Battle Scoop, or any scoop will work too.

1 Catapult, Very good weapon, long range and has decent DPS... The recoil is also reduced by the aug setup. Which means that the weapon is fired faster.

1 Venusian Magcannnon - this is if you want to out-range the opposing AI.

1 Quartz Charger, Enhanced or Super Quartz will work. - to improve shield regen at the cost of energy.

The tactic to leveling solo is to out-range the AI, the aug setup and level in Sniper Class will determine how long your range is.

If you're doing a DG (Dungeon), remember to ride the knockback of the catapult - this will get you to a safer distance quick.

This is/was not a PvP setup! This setup is held Copyright ©2012.

Battle scoops only work within 50(?) Range. You're better off just using any modded scoop.

I got some suggestions of my own to add on to your guide. Dont get me wrong, its good for ppl who dont have a lot of cash on hand, but it can be improved.

Augs: How about 1 Green, 1 Zeus, 1 Athena?
My thoughts: Enough with the range boosts, you need shields too you know. Also, if u setup correctly, u dont really need vis reduction from augs

Shields: HEAVENLY gate, pearly gate is like a low bank heavenly gate, and snipers need decent bank and heavenly gate is easily obtained by killing cardinal bell or buy. A H gate* amped is even better.

Energy: Pretty sure yallow or halved antimatter>mobius coil and are easily affordable. Yallow for sustainability, halved antimatter for good damage. Also, if u can afford cata, u can afford OS Obsidian ionizer.

Scoop: Anything, try to minimize space occupied

Items: Cannon mod, the best combined/shield capacitor possible, HEAT SHIELDS!!!, not quartz, enhance, or super quartz, but celestica charger

Weapons: Everything mentioned and topaz thorax and RoP** extended superconducting
If t20 weapons are allowed, cheap but powerful weapons include: ZHT, dark fist, uukuu'quu

Lastly, it always helps to carry around a warp device, even if its not a PWI

Augs: How about 1 Green, 1 Zeus, 1 Athena or Qokuji
My thoughts: A good sniper has a reasonable amount of Range, Damage, Elec regen, low visibility, high shield bank and decent firing rate. Do not worry so much on the low shield regen, you will get used to it, try not to get shot.

Shields: Basil Mega Sheath, for the extra damage boost. A skilled sniper does not need to worry too much about getting shot.

Energy: Yallow (With an Ono Energy Capacitor), Oversized Obsidian Ionizer, Oversized Yallow.

Scoop: Anything, If you can get a modded one, go for it.

Items: Overloader Stable 4, the best combined/shield capacitor possible, No vollies, they boost visibility., Gigantic Enhanced Quartz Charger, Argonium Charger.

Weapons: Topaz Thorax, Reach of Prometheus / Plasmite Laser, Excommunicator, Rock Launcher or Catapult. Sniper gets a boost to physical damage.
If t20 weapons are allowed, cheap but powerful weapons include: ZHT,Mad Thorax and Lion Breath.

Use a low visibility engine always, when you are travelling inside a DG or fighting an AI. Never hold down thrust, tap it gently so your visibility doesn't go too high.

DO NOT USE A SNOWFLAKE. If you are going to do low level Sniper, for the love of god do not use a ship that has a -100% to heat, if you get shot at once with a heat weapon, you will suffer extreme damage. I recommend an Urqa Suqqa Ukuk, w/e those T19 bana ships are called or a Golagory Vazha Archtype (beware how rare those things are), Bare in mind there is always the Bule Super Sidhe and Equaminizer. I strongly disagree with the Snowflake, if you get hit a few times with a heat weapon, you will die. They need to add in a reasonable t19 sniper ship.

Your thoughts are completely wrong. My sniper pushed upward of 80k shields in an Absentis with an Emp Prot, instead I used a PoT 90% of the time because if you can't keep from getting hit as sniper then you suck at the class.

I get hit by Thunders and Tsunamis. Does that make me bad, shawn?

Below t20 and t21 though you really don't have to worry about that.

So 30% avg resists (counting the weaknesses) is good for t19 but 40% avg resists (prawn) is shit for t21?

The GVAT is a fantastic Sniper ship. You just have to try it to see for yourself.

Prawn is a Glass Cannon sniper. Do your homework HPA.

what about lower tech ships below t19? or is it not recommended/possible to play properly as sniper until you get t19?

I would suggest Hotrod+ until you can get into a Space Blue Beta, Zebu Master(+), Parsley, Basil, or Bule Super Sidhe. Once you get to a BSS you can easily carry yourself to t20 with it.

Sorry forgot to mention, at low levels cloaking is nigh impossible due to augs and cloaks being, for lack of a better term, weak as shit. So, the HR+ will supply you with enough speed and agility to hopefully stay alive long enough to clear the level.
