I thought I'd put a little something together on skin developing, most useful thing I found was previewing them in blender but if you've got any tips I'd love to hear from you.
Preview texture in Blender: Download blender from http://www.blender.org/ , install & run. Attachment: 1 start.jpg You can click anywhere outside the dialogue box to dismiss it. Attachment: 2 Model.jpg Right cube in the outliner box and delete it. Select file -> import -> wavefront and select the model of the ship you're working on. Drag the triangle in the top right downward to create a 2nd display area. Attachment: 3 Material.jpg Change the top view area to UV / Image editor type. Change the user perspective area to Edit Mode. Select the model mesh in the outliner window. Select the material tab in the properties window and select new. Attachment: 4 Texture.jpg Select the texture tab in properties. Click one of the slots and select new. Set type to 'image or movie'. Open your skin from the properties box. Under mapping change coordinates to 'UV' In uv / image editor section choose your texture from the list here. In the user perspective area hit 'n' on your keyboard to open up properties. Expand shading, change type to GLSL and enable 'textured solid' Attachment: 5.jpg If you like, change the user perspective back from edit to object mode. Texture won't be updated in object mode but you get a better view of the skin. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post. _________________ Last edited by Sk1rm1sh on Thu Aug 21, 2014 10:51 pm, edited 1 time in total. |

Tbh, i just replace the files used ingame eg. overwrite the PaxianCapitalShip.jpg file with my own version, then close & re-open the client. Good idea to back them up if you do it that way.
You can find the directory with all the files by hitting windows key+r then entering %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Star Sonata 2\Content\Default\Textures\Ships into the dialogue box _________________ |
