This is a known problem, there is no plan to fix it from what I can tell. The only suggestion I can give you is to use the real Windows or wait to see if SS2 fixes that.
The missing tabs are: Energy, Radar, Cloak, Drone, Augmenters. The problem is in Window the tabs are Variable width while in Wine they are fixed width and get shoved off screen. _________________ Never™ |

yea, but its very easy to work around. use the all tab, and order them by type.
and yea, s2 wont have that issue, and if it does you can change it in the xml so would be easy to make a "linux" skin. _________________ One of the first and proud flight controller. Visit our website: http://www.ef-team.com |

Another problem I noticed is that the window sometimes doesn't provide a horizontal scroll bar, even when the buy/sell price columns are cut off. I eventually discovered that I could at least resize the columns to reveal the entire prices.

Pertaining to C2:
I installed C2 and launched it but was unable to log on. It lists Connecting to game server ... Reconnecting... Retrying... Failed to open socket I did put test2.starsonata.com and 3032 in the appropriate fields. Apparently some users aren't having this problem so I assume it's a Mac/Linux thing. I am able to log in if I launch C2 directly out of the Patchbot, but subsequent attempts to launch C2 give the above error. Once I do launch it, I can choose my character but then get a garbled frozen screen attached. It also seems to run in that small window regardless of what resolution I select. Just wanted to inform, that i cant see the Drones and the Tractor tab in AI stations and in normal bases. How did you get wine onto the Mac, what version did you use? Also you can't install SS even with wine onto any Mac computer that has PowerPC, only Mac's with Intelcore or higher will work. Not that it will effect many people. _________________ ![]() Blue Dwarf wrote: Statistically, they haven't changed. Except for the beef I gave. |

Hey again,
Don't worry about the post above. I did some research and discovered a way of getting Windows 7 on OS X. It requires you to own a hard copy of both windows 7 and Snow lepard but it does mean you can run any windows program you want. This is the tutorial I used to install http://www.simplehelp.net/2009/01/15/us ... lkthrough/ . _________________ ![]() Blue Dwarf wrote: Statistically, they haven't changed. So, I tried what you said in the OP, but when I try to run it in darWINE(im on a mac)-;), my best results involve not crashing, having usual graphics, but not being able to move the ship. Possibly a keyboard compatability thing? Also, in WINEskin, it works fine, but crashes like every 4 mins x(.
Any thoughts? ~spaceglob |

the keyboard issue is known and is caused by the lack of overrided dll (see my original post).

yeah, i got ss working, and NOW i understand what you meant, but i've got little experience with WINE, so i had no clue.
Thank you very much, it runs quite well, and i am enjoying having ss back on my computer. however, with the c2 beta, im having some trouble, i do the .dll override, set to naitive, install the dinput8.dll, but....... it crashes instantly. I have tried visual studio 6 thing, but that doesnt fix it. Any .dll needed for 3d? I'll re-download it, see if that fixes it, if so, ill post here. |

i doubt the sslauncher will work correctly on linux since its using some hackaround to work on windows XD. the concept behind it actually originated from the linux world, and its not that hard to make a tunnel bash script if enough people needed it. (the other feature arent needed on linux/wasted on linux so only the tunnel would need to be ported anyway)

So like 10 years down the track when ss has a player base of 50 million, you'll release it for Linux and Mac?
