Option 1(if you have completed the PWI missions, and have used a microwarp device before):
Quote: "Hello there, Cygnus. I recently happened to witness your ship traveling through space when suddenly--I could barely believe my eyes--you disappeared! Not a wormhole or other phenomenon, no, it must have been a spacial displacement technique! I myself have been working on a device similar to the one you are using. It will undoubtedly, be far superior to your model, of course, but that is not what I came here to speak with you about! He smiles in an annoyingly superior way, "You see, in my experiments i have come across a technique that allows nearby ships to 'follow along' another ships spacial transit, so long as their shields are synchronized! The technique is, of course, sound, but unfortunate supply difficulties have made confirming the principles that are used in them. This is, however, where you come in. Take this device. It will allow a friendly AI ship of yours to follow you when you warp. Test it out for a while, and come back with your results. These 'side along warp devices' are surprisingly easy to create, so come back if you ever need a replacement. Now go and test it! Mission Requirements: Have slave follow you with side-along warp device 5 times. Reward: Experience Items given for mission start: Slave Side-Along Warp Device Quote: Ah, you've returned! I'm quite busy, but how did it work?" You quickly sketch out how it functioned, and he rubs his chin delicately, "If it worked properly, then the rest of my theory must be sound as well! I will return to work immediately!" He turns to walk from the room, but pauses at the last moment, turning back to you, "Ah...while your test was appreciated, it was still quite limited in scope. If you want to continue to test these devices, you can have as many as you like. Just bring me some metals to fabricate them. The other mission would be like that except altered to have you already finish the PWI missions. The Item would essentially make your slaves warp along with you, in the same direction as you. Ideally, it would be limited by a "Side Along Device Controller", and the warping would only work when that was equipped, so you dont have to dock to change whether they warp with you or not. _________________ http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1408128/Demiser_of_D landswimmer wrote: ALL HAIL CYG THE MESSIAH! |

This is perfect, it would have so many uses. Please add it.

I *think* in C2 you can hotkey slave items, so you could hotkey your and your slaves PWIs to 8, 9 and 0 and just press all three at once?

I wrote a long argument about why that wouldn't work, but after thinking about it i realized that, if you think about it for a little bit, you'll realize why that wont work at all.

Warpers warp in the direction and movement of the ship, unless it fails of course. So if a slave is facing the wrong direction and going X>0 speed, guess what. It warps in the wrong direction too...
Thats from my observations. Never has failed, unless the warper fails. _________________ Salt Assault drew this conclusion from the latest devblog. |

RTS controls...
Select slaves. Right-click self. Fly for 5 seconds. PWI. Profit. _________________ uhmari wrote: When i look at uhmari, I can see clearly the problems in it |

Also note that slaves often travel faster/slower than someone's main ship, they often drift and face some other direction. Not to mention the extra 2/3 PWI (a one time mission) that FC must obtain. _________________ Space for rent! |

Wait... So in order to PWI slaves in C2 you would need a PWI for each of them?
Fuck. That. _________________ Blue Dwarf wrote: In space, no one can hear you cha cha cha. |

Not to mention the extra 2/3 PWI (a one time mission) that FC must obtain. Don't use PWI's then? :p That is exactly the same way as it is right now. This suggestion is to change that. Now if you disagree with the suggestion, that's just fine, but...please say so right out, rather than suggesting a far more expensive, convoluted and less functional alternative, because that just spams the thread up. The suggestion is an item that makes your slaves warp alongside you. Any thoughts on that, or ways it would be broken? _________________ http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1408128/Demiser_of_D landswimmer wrote: ALL HAIL CYG THE MESSIAH! |

You're already getting targeting control, you don't need any more shiny stuff from C2.

I say this should work but slaves should always move WITH the player ship, in the exact same direction. So even if player ship's PWI fails the slave would move with it. Failure rate of side-along device can be applied after this so it's still possible for slaves to end up in the middle of nowhere and not broken
