Post Make Halloween spawn equally resistant to all damage types
Because halloween stuff is supposed to be for fun rather than for epic drops, please make all halloween spawn that isn't an uber equally resistant to all damage types. It just strikes me as a bit silly that the capship halloween AI apparently has something like 85% resistance to mining damage, since that effectively makes them an anti gunner AI.

I assume that halloween AI is mean to be fun for everyone, so why is it that gunners will have so much harder a time than any other class?

A gunner that only uses mining is one that sucks. My Gunner at all times has Laser and Heat and then either Surg, Energy, or Mining to complement it. Notice that Mining isn't even a constant. People need to stop tying themselves to things just because a skill suggests it. How many snipers use exclusively Phys? None you say? Same goes for gunner with Mining.

I'm not saying that all gunners use mining exclusively, but some do. Why should they be discriminated against for trying to do holiday content with their normal build?

Yes, they should be.

Would you attack Bana With MTs? What about MS with an Excom? How about a Pax Astrologica(a very common and easy AI) with a Fire Beam? Or maybe, Copperages with Laser?

Every bit of Halloween content can be dispatched with heat, is it really askin all that much for someone to throw an Urqa' Ka on in case they want to kill it?

Yeah, but bana is not the same as halloween content. Halloween content is holiday content; it's just for fun, with some rewards that are only mildly decent. It's unfair to make one class bad at it for no reason.

I beg to differ, I think that Holiday content should be well thought out, challenging and enjoyable. Also, as stated before, it does not make one class bad at it for all I do Halloween content on my gunner easily.

I agree that it should be challenging and enjoyable, but arbitrarily making it resistant to a damage type just annoys people. My Gunner, for example; i use mining damage exclusively because i get 60% more DPS with that damage type...and whaddaya know, i see a level 1000 halloween AI flying around in perilous space! He can't be any harder than a pick or something, right? Right?

So i shoot. and shoot. And keep shooting. And about 4 minutes later he spawns a crapload of enemies, and then 4 minutes after THAT he spawns another of himself, which continues to hunt me through perilous space EVEN NOW.

And then he didn't drop anything.

How could i have solved this? Fly all the way back to EF space in my slow capship to get a new weapons setup JUST to kill a halloween AI that is supposed to be for fun, and is level 1k to boot?

That's not fun, it's just frustrating. There is no reason to arbitrarily make it resistant to a certain damage type.

  1. Apparently not in this situation.
  2. You could always... you know... carry a heat weapon around...

Okay, so you're saying that i should only be able to kill a certain AI because i was lucky enough to be carrying the correct damage type? If it were an AI that were here all year long i'd agree with you 100%, but this is an AI that's only here for 2 weeks, maybe more.

It's not luck, you know damn well that these are running around and are all susceptible to heat. It takes quite a bit less than rocket science to determine that you should have heat on you.

I didn't have a clue that they were running around OR that they were weak to heat, and i've been here for 7 years. A beginner player would just die and also probably quit. Especially since capships are traditionally weak to mining damage.

Except that my ship has 4 weapons slots so that's a physical impossibility, and since its holiday content you shouldn't have to anyway :wink:

If you use exclusively mining and have 4 slots than you can in fact add heat. you have 2 slots for mining and 2 for heat, I'm not seeing the impossibility here.
