Change Crazy Glue to the Star Trek "Scotty Effect". The "Scotty Effect" is having a fantastic mechanic on board that can fix anything given time. Basically you are getting the ability to use repair bots... Star Wars' R2D2 is a repair bot. The higher your "Scotty Effect" skill the more Repair Bots you can use and that translates into faster equipment repair. Repair Bots will need to be equipped in order to be used.
Note: For giggles some "Scotty Effect" repairs may require commods. And you can still dock and have the AI Base's repair yard fix all of your equipment for a fee. BTW there should be a time penalty when using the AI Base for repairs. Repair Bots aren't free! Basic units can be bought at certain AI Bases. More exotic ones need to be build from BPs. Repair Bots should take NO hull space once equipped... they fit into special hull Hidie Holes (Service Bays) specifically designed for them. Hull size and Tech may determine how many Hidie Holes and what Tech level limit the Repair Bots can be. I.E. no using a Tech 20 Repair Bot on a Tech 0 hull. Repair Bots are NOT tweaks! Once equipped they do not need to be USED in order to start work... your ship takes damage and they automatically go to work to repair what they can... given the materials at hand. (I.E. they may require raw materials that you do not have on board.) Note: Hulls will need a new item in their info list: Maximum number of Repair Bots that can be used at any one time. Only those Repair Bots with Hidie Holes can work on the hull... allowing the ship the ability to transport a lot of Repair Bots but only use the ones equipped on the ship. Repair Bots can and should be equipped on slaves, especially combat slaves. Note: Slaves, especially Combat Slaves, NEED a new Damage BAR to show level of equipment failure... I.E., equipment effectiveness. |

But Star Trek is as realistic as Concussions!
Fun idea, but it makes SS sound more realistic, which I don't know which way they want to go. We'll need more official statements first. _________________ Salt Assault drew this conclusion from the latest devblog. |

I'm not...a dev? I want to be one, though. Oh the carnage of content that'd come in if I was allowed to have my ideas installed all at once instead of one at a time atm.

Please let me know what you guys think about this idea. The issue: people not being able to carry spare parts on low hull ships. The Solution: Engineers having the ability to use a specific tractor that will instead of using energy, will use "spare parts" in their cargo bay. This will allow for people in oly who die to many times to be "repaired" on the spot by a class fundamentally called "engineer." The tractor should have a name something like, "Craft Masters Tool Box," or just "Tool Box," and take an appropriate amount of time to repair someones gear. Like 1-3 minutes. Why not? I think it would give the engineer a sense of character. People could stock up on scraps, and give them to the engineer before proceeding on doing runs. This would give the engineer enormous value on oly runs, which they already have because of their beam mastery skill, and defensive drone capabilities. And this would ultimately solve the problem of the discusion currently being held in -------> viewtopic.php?f=4&t=48660&st=0&sk=t&sd=a This thread. - Paxx _________________ Death to Pirates! http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/2103/mutes.jpg |

Idea~ instead of it being engi locked why dont we make it SHM and give it a new name?
We could use some class locked stuff =S + it has to do with healing which is SHM ~Preter _________________ Blue Dwarf wrote: Statistically, they haven't changed. Except for the beef I gave. |
