Post Star Sonata: Player Consultants and other ideas for admins.
Ok, what I see in SS a lot, is the admins add something that players don't like or is just broken and/or abuse able easily because of lack of knowledge of the game (no offense to any admins out there). I had this thought today, a group of trusted, user and admin picked players that would act as a way for admins to find out where issues are in the game, and to discuss things when adding updates.

It would have 3-7 players (doesn't really matter just a w/e number) Each from different parts of the player base. f2p, low level, mid level and high level players would be eligible, but in order to help, must be voted on by admins and players.

This would make it so the players help the admins from making bad decisions (such as the prawn BP on vigi) and will also help with new content that they want to add.

My second Idea, is from adding a "Like" button to a topic for the suggestion forums. If it gets more then, lets say 100 likes, it will be posted on the admins forums so that admins will always see what the players think is a cool idea, and then have the ability to see if it is possible for them to get to work on it.

Also to admins, you have been doing a great job with c2 and I know you have been very busy, and I feel these ideas could help greatly with things.

Please no flaming or just saying "no". I would like to have some real discussion on how we can make things easier for admins, and there fore improve the game for every one. Please give some ideas to change things you feel need to be changed/added.

I think a high player could relate to mid-low-and f2p aspects. Knowledge is the most important attribute with this kind of responsibility. I nominate enk, goett, and TW to work side-by-side with content devs to express not only the player creativity, but keep track on good ideas that the suggestion forums tend to bring about. 3 completely different opinions come together to bring balance.

Plus, they are all active on the forums anyway, so its not like it would be a lot of work. Just instead of posting on the suggestion forums what you think, send a message or pm a content dev directly, or have a daily chat session on IM or something!

I don't see how this could be done without essentially appointing these players as devs with no specific development duties. They'd still have to sign NDAs (for example in our favorite case of the Prawn BP). You can't just give certain players privileged information with no strings attached, even if they are well respected in the community.

I'm not saying it's a nonstarter, but we should be clear on what is being suggested.

The issue I see is that you can't ever know who is leaking information out of the current devs and admins.

Unless the person was 100% trustworthy (which is impossible) or their teammates would rat them out (also not likely), this can't work.

We are humans. Not perfect. Corruption will happen....sadly enough..

DO IT

Also add a dislike, so I can go back and dislike everything Lemon and enk have ever posted

user or thread rep would be good.

As for the player consultant idea. Most of the devs are players anyway, making the idea moot.

I do think that most high level players could aid in the low-mid level things, and most devs are not players really, at least not the ones that add in new content. So this would help them, and also help when there are things the admins want to know about the economy and such.

Isn't Jey and Bobbo like the only two devs that still play?

Jeff Bobbo isn't a Dev. Hes a pretender. He may have said what to do for easter but that doesn't make him a dev.
