I've been thinking and I believe it would be useful to add a short 'introduction to dgs' mission in the nexus, I know there are already some stuff that are like in the nexus like the powder keg and stuff, but I think it would be invaluable to actually explain to new players what exactly a dg is. When I first started playing it wasn't till lvl 100 that I first entered a dg, and I left almost immediately wondering why people would risk being killed by so many ai. It wasn't till about lvl 300 that I realised there was a credit and loot reward for killing the boss of the dgs, maybe I was just ignorant but I can't have been the only one who missed this content for a long time.
Have the mission description as something like this: So you've gotten strong as a pilot, but do you think you have what it takes to make your way through dungeons full of ai waiting to attack anyone who attempts to obtain their treasures? That's right, a dungeon (aka. dg) is a chain of galaxies, at the end of this chain is a boss that holds many credits and valuable gear. But to get to the boss you have to fight your way through levels of ai that get stronger with each galaxy. The danger factor of a galaxy shows approximately what level the ai you'll be versing are. Also you can see how many galaxies there are in the dg chain by looking at the number on the warp i.e. 8.349* So your still keen to go and give it a shot? Ok well there's one just north (or some direction) of here, give it a shot and tell me how you go ok? You start leaving but s/he catches up to you and stops you. "Sorry I forgot to mention, the ai's drop the keys to get to the next level of the chain when you kill them, you can't take these keys out of the dg as they will decay." You thank him and go on your way... Mission: Clear the dungeon north of here and bring back evidence of your victory. If this content does get added it needs to be exactly like a normal dg (especially in colour of the warps) *I haven't added it cause I don't fully understand it myself but make sure to mention about the numbering on the dgs. _________________ Blue Dwarf wrote: Statistically, they haven't changed. (((Should be placed AFTER all the planned cadet/volcom missionline ends, so the player has experience and a decent ship)))
needs to be about 6 long, enough to understand the concept but not to bore them First level: 2 Zebucart+ (the ones from liberty, no aura) Second, 3 bringands volcoms third, 3 giant brigs 4, 1 bulk trader 5, 2 hotrods (greaseball AI, no team) 6, 3 zebucart +, one ̶D̶e̶l̶a̶q̶u̶a̶d̶ rosefire needs to drop ship upgrades (phunka to phunka+) so we can understand two concepts at the same time Lower tech ships, 1~5 maybe and the rare loot being Hotrod+ upgrade cuz its most expensive(hotrod 1/50 prolly) other loot: Creds (2m) _________________ |

When the player is around lvl 20ish. _________________ Blue Dwarf wrote: Statistically, they haven't changed. Except for the beef I gave. |

I agree, if you mean rosfire by how it was wtout special, then it might be ok, but the current one is a no. Perhaps a bulk as boss?

Great idea. I also had wondered about the DG thingies and didn't know what they were all about way back when...

TL;DR
A mission that explains: 1. What a Dungeon is 2. Why to attempt Dungeons 3. How to advance through Dungeons 4. How to tell Dungeons apart And gives you the task to kill the Boss of the "Dungeon"(in reality, it's a custom DG, which is not a normal DG, since normies are not random and therefore not custom). The boss is spawned by the server upon entry of a player with the mission. The mission does not give a credit reward, but it does give some EXP. The "reward" is from the boss. _________________ Salt Assault drew this conclusion from the latest devblog. |
