that would only be balanced if it were like 25k size perma drone with a decay on it (2 hours or something), with a normal shield bank


A good idea would be an engineer only perma drone, 10-20k size that creates light so people can power panels in regular galaxies, but not in DGs+instances.

And as prom stated, the RP drone does pretty much what you guys ask for, directly or indirectly

The difference between a temporary drone and a perma drone may be logically with it's lifespan, but you could also bend the 'rules' a bit by stating that they take different slots and/or where they can be deployed (ie not in an owned gal, instanced gal...).

I'm not stating this should be done, I am merely assuming it would be a more 'balanced' way of approaching the idea of such a drone.

I think a better solution would be a drone that takes up 6 drone slots that acts as a powerful sun, or just a solid regen aura like 100 distance around the drone.

The only serious use for anything like this would be in zeus / ares / pos where there are no suns and where people on the squad can't power their shit.

Hmm... Maybe a drone with a largish energy regen and a good bank, everyone who needs energy has to use tractors that suck energy from it. The tractor can only be used on those drones by squad/teammates and only on those drones.

Interesting concept brewing here I'm sure...
A drone you deploy that takes either say...20mins and a reasonable amount of elec, or 2mins and an insane amount of elec, once deployed it has no regen but energybank 10x the size of that you used to charge it...
Engineer only tractor that sucks energy from it at an immense rate, then they can transfer to squadmates.

Other possibilities would of course, be as was said, tractors for all players that can drain elec [from drones only of course] to be used in conjunction with the aforementioned drone. The tractor would give a better EPS then any drone aura will give you, simply because you need to stay within say 800 range of it to continue draining, and limits combat options RE: tractors.

Fair trade-off? You decide. I say, in certain situations sure.

I'm not sure. On the one hand, it'd be really cool. But on the other hand, it has the potential to be either completly useless or much too good. I'd rather see multi-targeting energy beams or drones that use energy beams.
