Story updated!

It has been a long time… Much has changed since the Emperor has laid claim to the universe, Olympus has taken it’s seat, and the aliens have invaded. With each advancement in technology, our reach grows ever further. In our own quadrant of the universe there are a couple of factions, both out to get rich. Built on similar beliefs, these two powerful factions are now at war with one another, each trying to take control of the market.

These two factions, Red Photon and Blue photon, almost like brothers, are against each other. Both trying to take control of the market, they want to knock the other out of the competition, which has led to not only a economical fight, but a physical fight. They each have a huge amount of credits and are now in the market for mercenaries. Referred to as the War of Planatia, the war is named after the middle ground galaxy, where there is a constant battle going on.

The Red Photon have set up a brand new headquarters in a distant galaxy which is referred to as the Magellanic Layer. They plan to use the profit they make from selling the newly discovered abundance of fuels to buy more defensive drones for the galaxies that they have taken claim to so they can make a leap ahead in the war. There is a rumor going around that there is an opportunity, a mission, to kill all of the defenses in Obliquity to deal a hefty financial blow to the Red Photon. The mission is offered by the lead competitor, Blue Photon, who have followed Red Photon in an attempt to beat them at their own game. They set up an HQ in Eccentricity in hopes of blocking Red Photon from taking control of the entire Magellanic Layer.

Each faction offers missions that will help them get ahead in the war such as helping their fighters escort supply bulks to the front lines and fending off enemy ambushes, assaulting enemy blockades so that you can reestablish trade routes, defending allied outposts from waves of invaders trying to destroy and take over the galaxy, killing the defense drones in the other faction’s ever stronger growing HQ galaxy, and more!

Now the only question is who will you side with in the economic conflict?

Looks amazing, what tech lvl will this content be?

Most of the missions would be for everyone, probably instanced to accommodate for that. Then the destruction of the galaxy missions would be geared toward endgame as they're ada gear equipped drones.

Would be nice if it incentivizes fighting other players, otherwise it looks interesting. What are the rewards you were thinking of allowing players to obtain with said tokens?

As of right now, I haven't thought about rewards as I've been trying to come up with ideas for different ships that could be used by either faction. But off the top of my head, blueprints for new base items, maybe an augmenter or two, a player obtainable ship, and probably more.

If this is a pvp zone, It will be broken as long as that power variance is there, however i encourage such additions to the game at this point so my point will be proven about the brokenness of VP.

If it is pve based, it would be a very interesting concept for a limited time. The map is to static and over time people will tire with it and leave it.

It needs more dynamic concepts. You may want to try to add conditions that are more radical that are altered by players on opposing sides, that may make it less predictable and stale, and result in a success area often visited.

I would expand this project to a good 20-25 systems.

OK, keep in mind that if the zone isn't worthwhile no one is going to participate on a consistent basis.

I like the ideas, it is very similar to this suggestion (and Biggees emp suggestion)
http://forum.starsonata.com/viewtopic.php?f=103&t=49268

There are two problems I feel like pointing out:

1. With the playerbase as it is, adding yet another new zone for content will just further dilute the action.

2. Tacking two more "factions" on top of the multitude of unexploited factions (Hyperion, UrQa, Zaphragi, etc) seems a bit too much, wouldn't it be better (and easier) to expand the current options?

example;
The Zaphragi Emperor takes issue with the Pretender Gods of Olympus.
This can easily slide into OPs suggestion, with players pledging support to the Zaphragi or the Pretenders. If more players ally with one over the other, the weaker faction offers "boosters" to maintain an always level playing field. An excuse to add t20 and t22 Serengeti and Olympus content as well (imagine flying the Mastodonte!!

In any event, dynamic horizontal content is much needed, so it's a step in the right direction.

Oh my goodness yes!

Please don't spend time creating new factions, use the existing factions and build upon them. You can add even more lore opportunities and it wouldn't take the same amount of work to make believable.

Expanding on current ingame lore and assets would do wonders for increasing interest.

I hadn't thought about that but I do like the idea of expanding off of the current factions a lot.

Example of the plot gal layout.

Image

Here is a possible reasoning for the conflict:
The Zaphrangi and Pretender Gods are fighting for control of the "Ancient Throne of Bedevere" (not an actual item, thought of in lore as the Key to the Universe and total control) They dislike each others beliefs and want superiority.
Or it could just be as simple as hating each other and this is the battlegrounds (personally, I prefer the involving-players-in-lore approach)

Instantly we can add new tech ships:
examples only:
Tech 16 = Jovian Throne
Tech 21 = Zeus Throne (current)
Tech 22 = Olympus Throne

and
Tech 16 = Lion Cub
Tech 20 = Lion (current)
Tech 22 = Lion King

The Ur'Qa can join the battle later (read: to save dev resources) and bring their own new ships and plot line. Such as a mini-Bana queen as a t21 cap ship, etc.

We can include early-mid game in this zone, by having certain gals level/tech locked and forcing end-gamers to include/recruit/develop newbies for mutual gain.

tl;dr: We don't need to shoehorn new content/lore into the game, we expand on the terrific factions we've got and put them in this dynamic pvp/pve environment.

The best part about the model you propose, is you can add even more factions into the conflict from their respective home gals.

With this change it gives a little bit of direction on how to style the Ada geared pillboxes rather than just reskinning a current base kit for it. Same for the ships that I want to design for it.

Expanded lore ftw!

Also, wouldn't it be cool if one of the "battlegrounds" could be king-of-the-hill style, BvB warfare?
