how about when you make a scan of planets / moons, your results are not only shown on the screen, but also exported to a single file ?
so you have a list of it to read back at reset every time, and not have to scan all the time, or even keep typing it over every damn reset
takes forever to type, when the scan text is actually allready on your screen, all they have to do, is export it for us

export into a text file, or excel file ( so we can later import it into excel for whoever wants that)

either implement it into the game, or new item, seems like a lot better reset when you can just scan, without having to write it all down every uni

God yes…
Even a /command that writes the Event log to a file would do the trick. Happy to sort it out in Excel if I don't have to write each line down manually.

We had this system when Limpa was on pants. He used XML files to upload the scans to a webpage. It was magic. Looked super fancy. T0 commods were white, T1 blue, T2 yellow and T3 red. Base planet suitability was included as well. It would also show howmany extractors each commod could use. As in loads is 65 - 128.

Wish I knew how to do that. Limpa pls come back to me :(

This always sounded like borderline exploiting to me.

Strawberry Pancakes got access to this tool from Limpa himself, and they used it and protected it for quite some time under Trevor's leadership. I'm not sure if Limpa would care if it was distributed, but I have access to it myself.

I also made sure that it didn't violate any rules, and Jeff_L was fine it, he didn't mind the tool.

Blatant lies! Not a single piece of XML was hurt during that process
Was just a piece of php generating a web page from plaintext files.
And the text files had the info you got by scanning planets

Lines like...
Scan: [Ich Bin Kalt] Normal Gravity, Frozen, Terran. Loads of Silicon, Plenty of Baobabs, Loads of Metals, Loads of Space Oats
How the hell is saving that data "borderline exploiting"... Bit unfair perhaps, as kids without the know-how would have to do lotsa manual work.

And the colors weren't white, blue, yellow, red :D
White Smoke, Dodger Blue[/color-[color=#CC9933]Goldenrod, Watermelon Pink

And there also was ruin information... not brown but Sienna

Sample data http://klaabu.pri.ee/ss_scan/scans/Wazn.txt
Result http://klaabu.pri.ee/ss_scan/?gal=Wazn

Scan a planet, then the moons orbiting it... move to next planet... rinse and repeat.

The data is from summer 2013, don't go hunting stuff that's not there

Also, the way i got it to work on a single windows machine, was a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE THING ... strings and grep and cli php to generate pages.
This should be made into a slideshow.... "How You Shouldn't Do Stuff"

Now if someone of you has a copy of that hideous thing... KILL IT WITH FIRE
And find someone competent to make a good clean utility that doesn't make ppl scratch their eyes out.

But hey.... it worked :)

As far as in-game solution goes, no idea how easy it would be to implement.
Hell, make it depend on a team skill...
And so that only resource data scanned by extraction expert and suitability data scanned by colonial administrators are saved

How did you detect moons, by name I'm guessing atm?

Looking at the code...
Planets had environmental data that ended with a dot :D
Think i should've concentrated on more specific keywords...
Like the gravity/temperature/atmosphere values :D

Ah ty, I just got my own sample data.

Sample Data wrote:
Scan: [Wasteland] Low Gravity, Blistering, Noxious. Plenty of Silicon, A bunch of Silver, A bunch of Metals
Scan: [Hydrogen Hoax] Low Gravity, Blistering, Gaseous. A bit of Metals, A bit of Silicon, Loads of Nuclear Waste
Scan: [Pin'Tok] Plenty of Nuclear Waste, Loads of Metals, A lot of Petroleum

To me just looks like a massive switch lists but awesome none the less! :) (or Queries w/e)

Someone explained this to me after I made my comment, so I retract my claim that it was borderline exploiting. :P

It was originally presented to me more as a tool that would work as soon as you entered the galaxy, instead of one that still required you to manually scan each object.
