The general idea is to have blueprints for items which - depending on the tech lvl of the item - compress resources with different effectiveness like nuclear waste, mets, silicon, chips, babs, etc. Rats can be an exception.
It would compress stuff periodically, use up some elec from the base or even creds, produce some waste and a unit of compressed stuff. For decompression another item should be used, which would also be periodic. This way, one could store more resources, for example for an uni reset, but could not abuse it because it takes time to decompress the blocks. It would rather be a short boost in production than a way to pop a lot of resources onto a base. This way, colonies would be affected as well (compress something somewhere, take it with slave, decompress on another base if it's worth it), and it would have a big potential IMO. |

The new industrial commods are a variation on this idea.

I think it's either because he wants more resources shipped over through trade slaves, or less room eaten up by T0 commods on his prod. Either way it's entirely unnecessary and only serves the purpose of 'seeming cool'. _________________ T21 Skills and Dailies Guide - Personal Wiki Contributions - Monthly Wiki Contributions |

He also wants to compress basic commods so he doesn't need to have a long logistical train to deconstruct a functioning prod in one galaxy over to the new galaxy prod site. _________________ ->Aces High ->Fortes Fortuna Juvat ->Up with irons |

Currently one requires hundreds - no, thousands - of millions of resources from each type and cannot even stash a fraction of it. I'm not interested in the possibility of uncanning peasants from rats, but having 10-20-50mil mets stashed would be helpful. Also, for a compensation, compressed stuff would weigh much more than the same ammount of resources uncompressed.

It doesn't matter how heavy anything is with Singularity Brake. That's also 10 MNC worth of storage.
