I personaly wouldn't give any stats to Ares Sapper if the devs removed the tracking or the 4d, but it's up to the devs if they want to make it stronger somewhere else, like DPE or something.

Then your next post will be "nerf omega beams" right.

Honestly, I find Sappers fine, even with their stupid range. What I don't fine is how you can charge Sniper Analysis with them, and keep your SA charge with a different weapon. So I can sit 12k out, charge it, and support PVB with a shorter range weapon...like a KMW.

If individual weapons had their own charge, it'd be fine.

So you want to make the sapper a t21 omega beam, therefore balanced?

There's nothing wrong with them being 4D with medium tracking.

Ehhh. That's not "medium" tracking. That's 45 degrees in either direction.

I guess you could say, I get the patch early because... I'm a dev.

45° in each direction is medium to low tracking...

0 - 360°. 45° in either direction is 90°.

360/90 is 1/4. Medium is "in the middle" so yeah... if your definition of high tracking is a 180° arc then a Sapper's 90° is medium. If you consider full tracking to be high tracking (which makes more sense) then Sapper's are actually low tracking.

So yeah, even by the most conservative estimates, Daedalus is right the weapon is either low or medium.

Imo only a tracking of 2 degrees on each side would justify it being a 4d 1k range instant hit weapon

You do realize that would effectively be a nerf for everyone except sniper, right? a very small degree of tracking (2 degrees on each side for 4 degrees total arc) is still a pretty huge lateral limit if you're firing from 10k range. However, that weapon now becomes useless for every class except sniper, who still keeps 100% of the advantage of the weapon.

An SD doesn't have the option to face the opponent at all times, a berserker would be unable to get all the lasers to track enough to hit the same point, etc...

Sniper is still sitting 10k out hitting their target just fine.

The best functional example I can give of this is actually the original Gatling gun. The barrels themselves, when cranked, would only pivot about 3 inches to each side, however; at the maximum effective range, this very small pivot allowed the Gatling gun to engage 60-meter front with one stationary weapon.

Basically, the weapon stays just as devastating unless you change the Sniper class instead of the weapon itself.
