The renaming of CW's has nothing to do with political correctness. No one on the dev team has a problem with there being mature content in the game. However, the term "whore" is pretty juvenile and not befitting a commercial game. It's a cheap laugh for the 13 year olds out there. I don't play a lot of other computer games but I'd be shocked if anything coming out of the big studios uses language like that. If they want to depict prostitution, they'll use proper adult language for it so they don't sound like teenage boys.

When it came down to it, we didn't come up with a term for the commod that would be both specific and professional, so we went with the generic "Entertainers" and left the true meaning as an inside joke for those who remember the original name.

WoW has prostitutes in the old Karazhan raid.

Well actually they're concubines, so really they're high class sex slaves that are so fiercely loyal to their owner that they try to kill you...

Concubines would have been a reasonable term, although without some added context it would be a bit odd.
