Since we seem to be considering major revamps of game mechanics, i thought i would throw this out there.
For those who are new or have forgotten, i am the person who got the delightful task of making this http://wiki2.starsonata.com/index.php/DG_Drops SO, i have decided to actually field test how the drops actually function. For my test i Choose the system Aleggro, which has 5 dungeons (6 bosses) all 4-5 layers deep on a 40 df galaxy. this allows me to get consistent results on the table. I ran each DG 5 times and this is the result. The controllers, the Vacuum and the Drones obviously came with me. Now, the lowest item here is Jack Healer at 0.01. The highest item is the Std. SPeedy Agility augmenter at 1.00 The norm seems to be .81 Between .01 and 1.0 there are over 400 possible items. There are 60 items in the .81 range alone. Now i would consider 60 items to be a shockingly large loot pool for any boss, but 400 is frankly absurd. There needs to be a major rework of the entire DG drop system, as with the removal of JY notes it is pretty much dead content. I have heard an idea floated about base item tokens and would like to amend it. Each boss drop a (1) counter of some kind, one for augs, one for BP, one for base items, one for equipment, weapons, boxes, exc, exc. The chances are obviously different. There is a simple turn in location where people can use the counters to get the items they actually want. This would result in ALOT more people doing DG and ALOT less people trying to figure out what to do with all the random trash they got. Cuase as it stands right now, DG are dead content. _________________ |

Thanks for doing this test. The result is really informative. I think everyone on the dev team is on board with reducing the number of loot items so this is definitely in line with your recommendation.
