Post Re: Earthforce and F2P PVP
Make warp 3 a PvP / F2P buildable zone.

Halve the current PvP range extension to ensure fairer fights. Flash a warning on screen the first couple of times you go in, to alert new players (if there is such a thing) to the danger ahead, informed decision ftw.

Limit bases to say Tech 14, tough enough for most AI, but not un-killable. Max 15 bases per gal, 10 per team, 5 per person, max 5 gals per team / person, same for drones. No outposts. No aggro'ing bases / drones (not sure if you can even still do that). Maybe no ruins or tier 1 commod's or IC's. I've been out to warp 3, it's empty. I haven't seen a single player, let alone a built galaxy, completely barren. I know there is a wild / peri, where everybody is, newer players won't, they'll just assume the game is as empty as w3.

The better resources in w3 will attract small, growing teams and newer players. But not be attractive for end gamers' and their teams. This will help push people out of w1/2, opening the space for newer players who can learn the base building ropes in a safer environment.

There is plenty to do in w0-2, if you don't want to venture out , most, if not all nooby mission chains start and finish here. There are ample ways in and out of w3, a dozen connecting gals, juxta/concourse and transwarp, camping/greifing/blockades would be difficult, if not impossible. But if it becomes a problem, the admins can deal with it like in every other MMO.

I'm not much of a PvP'er, personally, and I don't advocate mass bloodshed / completely open PvP. PvE / content is a perfectly valid playing style and should be catered too in a Massive Multiplayer Online game. I do think the risk versus reward has diminished greatly since I last played, things seem a lot easier than I remember.

Just my 2 cents, but I think the above changes would give a taste of what can be done and maybe encourage more F2P to P2P conversions.

Whatever newfound pvp zones put in place will turn out to be centers of countless Free for All skirmishes, and everyone who's played an RTS game knows how FFAs turn out. The strong players will either help out or prey on lesser characters while weak players will inevitably team up against the strong.

The pvp upper level limit range should be done away with on characters when they reach a certain level. With the limitations imposed on freemiums, exceedingly high levels gives diminishing returns to the character. I suspect level 1.5k characters will either save up their skill points or sink them on zen skills. This also comes with the beneficial side effect of forcing lower leveled players to spend skill points wisely.

I've never seen this back when the game actually allowed crazy rollocking PVP limits wherein people could paste each other mindlessly. So I doubt it'll happen in game now. Look at Auric Sector. People have stopped PVPing in there now that it was mentioned because everyone got bored.

Look at Auric Sector. People have stopped PVPing in there now that it was mentioned because everyone got bored. Most of the time if there is a giant PVP war, it actually brings people closer together, and adds personality to the game in a way I feel that's been lost.

For every person who loves pvp and actually get motivation from being destroyed over and over there are 10 people who will simply ragequit and never look back.

Pvp is good and needs to exist in the game but it needs to be somewhat under control and it needs to be avoidable so in my opinion it's a bad idea to allow it in the earthforce layer.

Post Re: Earthforce and F2P PVP
In SS measures have been put in place to stop people being chain podded and griefed. Now instead of having my ship dragged over my spirit being healed again and again and losing tonnes of credits each time, and gear, I lose practically nothing. You know I don't like PVP because we've played together years, however when it comes to the game I feel that the risk and the danger actually benefits and makes the players feel less dead inside. At the moment it's a huge advantage to build in Earthforce Layer. I mean I've got a tonne of bases up making me mega billions. (Or I could do if I could be bothered) These bases don't really need any form of protection either which is great! :) If I build in Wild Space it's a 'risk' now because all of a sudden everyone wants to kill my bases. So why should I go P2P when I can build my safe empire, safe from the threat of PVP. Because PVP is so 'risky' and such a grave 'threat' It's off-putting to people in the game because they're afraid of the unknown. They don't realise that PVP isn't that big a deal. There will be some lairy PVPers but as you know from years of playing the game, they get shut down and die. Teams of tough PVPers will be obliterated by the other teams. Monsters are good because they cause people to band together against a common enemy. At the moment I feel this is one of the many reasons people are not going P2P. Because why P2P if you just pay to be abused and quit?

If there really were an epidemic of life-long F2Pers who weren't interested in P2P, what you say would carry some weight for the dev team. However, as far as I know we don't have any serious bottleneck in that part of the monetization process.
