A public apology.

Hi.

My name is Alex O'Neil and I've played as Retyu since 2005. Many of you know me, more of you hate me, and today, I finally realized that I've been a jerk to a lot of people recently. I don't feel like apologizing to a lot of them but there is someone who I feel deserves an apology.

Earlier on, I was weird and mean to Blazing Fire, and it wasn't till I started talking to her that I realized just how alienating and hurtful I had been. As one of the small female community on Starsonata, Blazing Fire has to put up with a lot of harassment and abuse and I didn't realize just how much or how horrible it was at the best of times.

Since I met her, Dae and Joe earlier this year, I've experienced some good times through knowing them, more so her and Dae than Joe who I severely wanted to pod a few times, she also gave me information on how to play as a seer when I was considering piracy. (Not that she knew that was my ultimate plan!)

Basically the reason I'm making this is because some of the things I said to Blazing Fire have made her upset and I strongly feel responsible for making her feel even more alienated as a woman within the community. I feel terrible for the way I have spoken to her, as I see it as being wrong, though it was all meant in harmless good fun.

In many ways this experience of talking to someone face to face in PM has made me really consider things. I could ultimately blame a lot of the stress in my life, and a lot of the problems I have, including my many mental issues, however ultimately the blame lies with me, so for what it's worth, Blazing Fire, I am very, very sorry, and I shall endeavor to be a more responsible member of the community.

Retyu... You did not have to do this. what you said to me in our PM was fine. You really did not have to go to this extent, it will just attract all kinds of negative attention, which I do not want you to go through. I just don't like it when you talk about me like that. Even in private, I find it disturbing and it makes me feel uncomfortable, the fact that you did it in sol where loads of people saw it and you did not stop when I asked made it worse.
