the long answer? people dont control ideas, ideas control people.
and humanity is the battleground for dozens of different, conflicting ideas, which influence their hosts in ways that prevent competing ideas from taking hold. in essence, humanity is infested with ideas which trick us into abandoning rationality, ideas which trick us into ignoring evidence, ideas which make us stupid because a "stupid" mind is the only environment they can survive in. a big consequence of our species being infested by those ideas, is that they lead to perpetual conflict between the hosts of mutually exclusive ideas, and they block the primary method of conflict resolution, resulting in political stalemate. its not hard to see why this political stalemate is a bad thing, it cripples our political system, and cripples our ability to reach diplomatic solutions to conflicts. thats why the world is fucked. as for why western nations are heading towards authoritarianism? well, the military intelligence industrial complex knows the problems of political stalemate better than most, and they are capable of implementing the "easy" solution to the problem. the bad news is, the "easy" solution is the suspension of democracy and creation of a military dictatorship and both parties are complicit in this, because they know that whoever sides with democracy is going to be dragged down by it. there is a solution that doesnt involve military dictatorship, but it wont happen, because it would require every human on earth to free themselves from their enslavement at the hands of the beliefs they hold. |

that trial/error period is going to extend throughout all of human history, Mofouler. we have to realize that every end is a new beginning. there's always going to be another level of life. first, it was seeing space. then, it was getting things to space. then, getting people to space. now, it's getting people to live in space. next, it'll be getting people to live on other worlds. then, in other solar systems. then, eventually, in other galaxies, and the cycle will never end. Through all of that, it will be trial and error, finding out what does and doesn't work.
wow, that was DEEP. _________________ Despite all the stupid, asinine, shark-jumping bullsh*t this game has put me through, there's very little of it I haven't enjoyed. |
