If 1% of players means at least 5 players, then there are more like 500 players, no? (well more like 450+ so that 1% of it rounds to 5). Close enough. Zeuss wrote: I play with two tilts down. I would reply that over 100 ada kits have been dropped in BvB in the past 5 months, but then you would just tell me that that isn't real PvP… _________________ Hi, I'm Anil, a long-time player turned developer. But those BvB scenarios are the final few wars between the few veteran hardcore players that are left in this game, sitting on multiple accounts and stockpiled (some exploited) resources. Not exactly a healthy direction we're moving in.

instead of C1, what about a PvP based "DOTA" clone with the C2 engine and graphics, where players choose one of the eight classes and fight each other?
games like league of legends have millions of players, and SS offers a fairly unique combat experience that would translate well into a MOBA. |

Lol'd so hard. Yes, let's just code an entire new game based off what's currently popular just to try and steal their audience. OH WAIT. We can barely find the time and volunteers to code our own new game. _________________ Lemon/Meo |

ELITE wrote: OH WAIT. We can barely find the time and volunteers to code our own new game. you know, there's this thing where if a game is successful, it makes money and the owners can afford to pay staff. i have fond memories of SS, but how long do you think it will survive if the admins dont find some form of commercial success using SS's intellectual property? the most difficult part has already been done, SS has characters, backstory, an entire combat system, and unique features that could be quite easily adapted to the MOBA genre, creating a genuinely new gaming experience that builds on the biggest strengths of SS (its story, ships, combat system, classes, established and experienced dev team, with hundreds of potential beta testers who have extensive experience with SS's combat system) 90% of the work has already been done, and there is nothing saying that jeff has to do it himself. he could just license SS content to a MOBA developer and use his share of the profits from the MOBA to pay the server costs to keep SS running, hire more staff. i'm pretty sure when it was first suggested that blizzard should turn warcraft into an MMORPG, someone ridiculed that idea too. |

Honestly a pure PvP version of this game isn't a bad idea. A MOBA setting has a lot of potential in terms of balance and letting everyone pvp, as opposed to the current system of only people who can afford endgame ships/gear having a chance. Would still need tons of balance tweaks ofc and possibly a reworking of slave AI. Unfortunately, we can't expect this to ever happen unless Jeff decides to take a gamble and I doubt he will. _________________ Space for rent! |

Actually, DOTA was already around before WoW, making it a much more sensible transition from RTS to MMORPG. Oh, and I guess we all know where DB's been all this time (*cough LoL). _________________ Hi, I'm Anil, a long-time player turned developer. What SS needs to bring in the crowds is VR support.
