Leave em in, but lower the height limit.. maybe to 50 pixels.

I'd leave them in. File size is already low without having to remove them completely. No problem with personalising posts a bit. After all, what's a signature without a signature? Oo

The consensus here seems pretty clear. I'm going to change the limit to 32 pixels high and ask that people comply with that. I've doubled the allowable file size of the avatars, though, so feel free to make good quality avatars.

But keep the avatars small! They should fit in the little box under your name, in other words, not much wider then Jeff's avatar.
Bigger avatars will make this text box smaller and make that whole page look weird. |

that's because it's linked to an external site that hosts the avatar, then the filesize seems to be unlimited,
