Post June 23rd, 2009 - Dev Update 18
Hey guys,

Here are some things we plan to have for you at the reset:
- Fully programmed BvB and owning rules so that no artificial rules need to be made outside the game. (ie anything that isn't blocked by a rule would be allowed)
- Forcefield drones (large drones with high bank that can be used to protect drones and teammates, and can be healed by shield monkeys)
- Better logs to be able to track account usage for complaint resolution
- Bug fixes (not sure what else is in there, ill try to get a list)

In terms of Star Sonata 2:
- The new website is making progress, I will soon be looking for ppl to help me test it (I will pm you :P)
- Client 2 is also making progress:
- Jeff has been working on making the universe be generated to work in client 2
- Dorth has been working hard on the UI
- BlindSide has been working on the graphical things, hopefully he will post an update himself soon.
- Jon has made 3D collision progress and fixed a few bugs with lasers in c2

Lastly, I have asked Jey to fix up our IRC so that we can invite players to join us there.

I'm also starting a new "program" which is the Dev - Player connection group. This will consist of each of the top 10 teams picking someone to represent them in this group and this group will get a special channel to talk with me and other devs about upcoming features and changes to the game. This will allow players to be part of the creation of star sonata in a more direct fashion then after the fact on the forums. Directors of the top 10 teams can forum PM me with their pick for the player to represent them. He/she should be in a time zone not too far from eastern US (pacific time and western europe should be ok). I also reserve the right to invite more players as I see fit.

I look forward to seeing you on the starsonata irc and receiving pms from the top leaders so we can continue to change SS for the better.

Do the forcefield drones bring up an envelopment or something? Or are they just like, size 500?

No, they're just big drones right now (afaik).

Very cool! Will we be able to lay drones on top (or in their area of affect/size/graphic area) then? And graphically, are they going to clutter the screen, or will they be muted?

And the player involvement process sounds great!
