What time is EST? This may come as a surprise, but a lot of players live outside the Americas. I think EST is GMT-5 but I'm not really sure. I know I'm GMT+8. Get global boys and girls!

EST is Eastern Standard Time, which is GMT-5 (or more correctly, UTC-5 since GMT isn't a standard any more and is just a timezone now like the rest of them). EST is the time we use for everything and is "server time", like the clock on the home page.

indeed if you look on the front page at http://www.starsonata.com/ just under server status. There is a time here, whenever we specify a time, its on that timezone

You can also google "EST timezone". EST (Eastern Standard Time) is not just a random word only the US is using for their timezone, its an official international timezone name.

Unfortunately due to a hardware failure I lost a bit of work, and my new holiday content will be slightly delayed. Thankfully I keep backups, but I still lost roughly a day of work. I'm going to marathon through tonight and try to recreate what was lost before my flight in the morning so that you all can play it before Christmas.

I won't make any promises but if everything goes smooth from this point on it should be tested and out onto live by Sunday or Monday.

EDIT: Sorry guys, this isn't going to happen :( I wasn't able to catch everything back up before I had to leave for my flight. I'm going to do my best to get it up asap after I get back in town and we can probably leave it up a little later than the standard event.

Christmas Spirits appear to currently be only spawning in Peri Peri Space, and unable to even move into Perilous Space

Removed and reloaded the Spirit spawners so they won't wonder into PPS.

As far as I can tell, it will be 10 normal star systems for Christmas, along with a star system that contains a new boss. It's possible that it's like T22 though and the normal star systems will have minibosses you have to get through, who knows.

Do us all a favor and crash the server? Looking at PPS on my scout ship a shit ton of Spirits are still trapped in PPS.
