The cost of an item is dependent upon what people are willing to pay for it. That's based on how long it took or how difficult it was to get it.

In my screenshot, there was a shop BUYING a PBF for 20bil.

Not sure if this is the only thread you've read or not, but I don't think PBFs should be stronger than mastodons at all. I just think mastodons should be an alternative to other slaves, not literally the only useful option left.

Without optimizing anything at all, I can get a T20 gunner using low dps weapons to have considerably greater dps than T22 gunners with same weapons.

Low hull? Pocket Universe 22.

Low resists? Third aug is CaL/Emp/Mattock.

Low shields? 600%. Same as Antu.

Low speed? Bitch please, there's only a couple of capships faster and they're not that much faster.

Low range? Double Emp augs if I must. Even Triple.

Low sustain? Emp/Wattage/another CaL.

Honestly, this isn't due to the current power level of Mastos, it's mostly due to how the controlbot nerf was handled, thanks to Jeff not knowing anything about the game.

I wonder if he's actually buying the metals and stuff to make the PBF instead of plopping down a couple of EXE kits (or mooching off a teammate since his last team was EF) to extract, slaves to transport, and some random T20 base to build.

You seem to have thought wrong :P

Also, buildcost is roughly 7b even if you buy the Dread and Astro from the market. A half decent noob prod has the rest of the materials on hand.

If you want it to have lighter shields, but have the ship still be useful, you could revert the energy bank reduction back to 650%, set its shield bonus to 350-450% instead of the new 200%, and drop the hull space to some point between its old 450 and its new ~860, something like 500-600. That would bring it towards the intention of being a lighter frigate while still keeping it useful and worth making a Pax Astro and EFDN to make it. Honestly, I have been fighting the urge to lay a base in a random wild space galaxy right before reset, then item form all my ships and put all my possesions and ships on it then abandon it and start a scavenger hunt in all chat.
