Post Game does not use replaced sound files
If I replace the Obnoxious sounds in the game with a silent 0 second valid .wav file it will not use them. It uses the sounds from the content/Default/sound/ instead.

I have the following files put into content/Quiet/sound/

airbreaks.wav
fire-pulse.wav
FirePulseMedium.wav
FirePulseShort.wav
Nothin-to-scoop.wav
ScoopError.wav
WeaponChange.wav
FirePulseLong.wav

The only way to stop/remove these excessively loud and/or annoying sounds is to delete them with every single SS update.

Thank you for reporting this :) Since this is a result of your own personal client modifications I will need to forward this to another developer or administrator to decide if this is a bug :)

This is supposed to be one of the most hyped features of C2 when it first came out. The ability to change/substitute sounds and graphics.

What happens if you make it 1 second of silence instead of 0 seconds?

I have even used a wav editor to crank the volume down on the original files and use them instead. Still no go. Doesn't seem to respect the alternate sounds, only works for graphics so far for me.

Jeff has said that sounds is a part of the customizable skin, so I will do some testing on this :) Worst case scenario is that all sounds in the skin refuse to be replaced, if so is the case I should know by tomorrow :)

Post Re: Game does not use replaced sound files
An update on this :) I did a quick round of testing by replacing the sounds in the directory with other sounds from the directory.

If I deleted a sound, it would not use the sound in game.
If I replaced a sound, for example WeaponChange.wav with abandon.wav, it would play the abandon.wav correctly when I was attempting to change my weapon.

When I tried to use a custom .wav sound and give it the same name, it would not use the file. You used a .wav editor to mute the sounds and still had no results? Seems weird to me :| I will put this on our bug tracker and let an administrator know :)
