Some AI (seems like slumbers do it a lot) lag out and spin or fly slowly out. when this happens shooting at them does nothing, like they are lagged and actually in a different spot.
Also Slaves will fly out in a dg if not watched closely on occasion like they are chasing one of these rogue AI. |

I've seen this with picks and BG's too, you're firing but they are actually in a different location.
Although I find it quite nice when you rarely get one of these bugged ai's and can play with them ! Not exploiting or anything .. |

This isn't just client-side network lag causing other ships to not update their engines?

If it's client side, it affects every client in the gal. A small DGing party came across a number of Pick/BrG bosses like this.
