Post Colony voodoo (suitability and population acting weird)
Something weird is going on with most my colonies.

I noticed population of some of my colonies had dropped a lot. I found large quantity of 3b pop colonies even thought they were max suitability. I was able to find some 23%, 31%, 42% and 69% suitability colonies. After awhile, they all changed back to normal without me doing anything.

This is a long shot but feels like suitability is calculated wrongly for certain colonies after crash and I'm required to dock at them in order to get suitability back to normal.

Look at these screenshots. Same colony, same colony year, different suitability. Screenshots taken within few seconds of each other.

Another theory.

Could be some voodoo code created to nerf inactive bases. I have heard people saying inactive accounts lose their trade skills. I know that's not true. I have used some unsubbed accounts for building for years and this is the first time I have issues with suitability dropping. But technically it's possible there is a piece of code nerfing unsubbed accs but it's just not working properly most the time.

I've actually noticed this as well. I think its only visual though because the population doesn't seem to be affected by it

Oh right it could be just a visual bug. Similar to colonies showing wrong items in colony tab.

But I don't understand what would explain my 3b pop max suit colonies. Have aliens been that nasty?

EDIT: I found max suitability colonies at anything from 3b to 7b population so visual bug combined with alien nerf doesn't really explain everything.

I don't think there's anything in the code that actually penalizes unsubbed account trade skills. That's one of those things that has been talked about for years but was never actually implemented. But it's still conceivable that some of your bases went without CA for a while, by accident.

I've seen a few other teams complaining about similar unknown colony drops. All after the server patch/crashes.

Oh you're right they are at 3b. That is so odd.. I guess I should redock with my CAs after each patch

I noticed this also few days ago. Problem appeared after server patch. Weird colony suitability and decrease of population. Reported to Blue Dwarf and Jey. Their answer was that they do much here.

the issue was the account needed to of logged in since the patch, once i did that on an alt the suit returned to 115, however thats just raped the population.

So this is still happening.. Seems like a big issue and yet it has gone without any dev response. Can we get some? :)

It will be tough shit basically you need to make sure you log all your chars in after patch. It's also reason the mc issues lemon posted.

Fix the bug, but definitely do what Blizz was talking about where unsubbed accounts lose trade skills. That is a must.

I think I fixed mine simply by docking on each.
