They keep shooting until the ragnarock goes farther than about 3 times their range. It's as if they took the 20% range bonus of the HQ for a 200% bonus.

I've seen this as well, Andaman/Ambro drones firing lasers at things wayyy out of range. And in a recent BvB, I saw bases firing lasers and not connecting with anything.

Did the bases have range tweaks at the time (even relatively small ones), and if so did they also have multiple weapons equipped? If so, I may know what the issue is.

I don't think my Andaman/Ambro drones did, but the bases here I think are using the Volatile Projection OL thingie

HQ Aura gives Range to drones doesn't it?

The HQ aura does give 20% range, yes.
