Looks good. Will push it out to the testers later today.

I really don't like the new Death Striker. DS was a very sexy sleek ship and in C2 looks fat, plastic and boxy. To me it looks less like a Wing IV and more of a Retro Zebu now.

I too am not a fan of the DS and want to redo it at some point, but it has an animation right now that works and I am not willing to touch it just yet lest that breaks. Don't worry too much about current ship models. The current line of buisness is to finish new and old ones that dont exist. After that is done everyone can start sinking thier teeth into models like the DS. Though we do need some plus versions so keep that up.

It looks nice ingame, just lacks a bit on the texture. I just used the DS scheme and recolored for the + version, but after all ships are done I'll go work on the details for DS etc. _________________ This is not the signature you're looking for. I think the fundamental problem with this death striker model is that it isn't organic enough. For the 2d deathstriker, it looks like the spikes are flowing out as an extension of the ship, like claws. For the 3d death striker it looks like someone glued on some spikes and the effect falls flat in comparison.
That is just my opinion, and hopefully gives a general idea of how to fix the DS so it is sleeker and sexier and the model is worthy of such an iconic ship. |

DS should be an open claw in my opinion. 6 spikes not 4. We don't see the other 2 because of the current Top Down view.

It should also have more depth between the "outer" ledge and the "inner" zones. It seems that most SS ships in C1 show that there is depth, yet in C2, it is shown that the "depth" was all an illusion. People like to see 3Dimensional things since we are, in fact, 3Dimensional too. I doubt people like to look at cardboard, if they're used to 3x3x3. _________________ Salt Assault drew this conclusion from the latest devblog. |

Nice...Spider...but not a DS.
Make sure you include this with a picture of a real spider for Beelze. Let's focus on C2 for now, and do this after release? _________________ Salt Assault drew this conclusion from the latest devblog. |

There was a really nice DS in the Custom Ships and Graphics thread In Misc I think, if someone wants to go dig for it. I would, but I need to go get a shot of Doctor Who to top off a long day.

Can you make the back more rectangular, rather than a parabola?

i could but it means i have to redo the spikes. I wanted to get the organic fell of a claw. which i think it came out pretty well
also changed the material on it real quick. blue just looked wired lol. I work on a texture map in a bit. also thinking about what animation i can do. I am thinking having the claws flat then pop open when you start to attack. but im not sure yet. What do you guys think? Churchill, do you play c2?
If not... Off these forums. For the rest. I really like the submissions. But do you guys play c2, and have seen the animation in it? Its spikes retract. Imho, it could use a little flattening, making it more streamlined and making the spikes look like they actually are part of the ship instead of glued on, like said before. And the texture could use more details. That's it, really, I think. _________________ This is not the signature you're looking for. Fear me, I'm a dev. |
