This is a model of a Big Green that i made a while ago and used in a few of my own projects (http://www.starsonata.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=40933). I modified ot for C2 use by removing some redundant triangles inside the ship's hull to reduce triangle count, as well as applying some of the textures used for the new Big Green Model.

Pretty nice. I've got a version of the Green Battleship I made a while back too; I might see if I can tweak it for C2 use.

Very nice model, upload the .obj file and I can give it a look over and submit it for the client.

It would be great if you could do the rest of them in the same theme, and maybe one or two more. A larger and maybe another meduim ish sized one just so we have some variety for future content. Dont worry about textures, just the models.

I don't know about anyone else, but i really want a big green model that is about twice or three times that thickness (if not a bit more). I always imagined BGs as big and fat, having them as flying paper plates seems a little silly.

Heres an .obj file of it with the main body slightly modified, it has a lot of groups in the model due to it's previous purpose required it to be so.

I've always invisioned the Green ships as such:

The Agamemnon is much like what's posted above; as a fighter is not too thick, just blocky suggesting it's heavy fighter status. As heavy fighters, the Agamemnons would have a crew of 3-5 I figure.

The Big Greens and Bigger Greens are two variations on the same hull, but with some structual modifications to each to suggest how it's been increased a bit in size and function.

The Green Battleship is basically a flying armored city. With only a handful roaming the universe, they are used somewhat like nomadic settlements for the mutated Mzungu that command them, flying from system to system to find resources, Mzungu ruins and pick what they can off of ships they destroy. I never imagined the GBs to be very thick along the vertical axis, just very broad with individual windows as tiny points of light to show the scale of these massive ships. Also, I made octagonal structure near the stern into a command tower.

Attached is the GB model I made a while back. The bright yellow sections mark where the many rows of windows would be. I put an Agamemnon at the front end coming off of the launching platform to show approximate scale. With most ships I'd say that having a model this big compared to others would be impractical, but with there only being 2-4 (?) GBs in the universe at any given time, they would not be much of an issue to be huge. They would still be a workable number of polygons and details could come from the textures. The underside of the ship is mostly a mirror of the topside, just with no conning tower of fighter launcher.

Side note: Triangles are not necessary for models to function in C2. My Spearhead is almost entirely quadrangles and it works fine for me.

This model is a version with a bridge more suitable for a heavy fighter Big Green ship, with two rounded cockpits placed on the middle of an enlarged upper rear pad, and a rounded side wings like on the top

Looks cool. In future, can everyone who posts new models or modified models also include a poly count? We have to make sure we don't go too nuts with the polys because of the people who want to play on laptops, though it would be cool if we added hi-res and low-res versions at some point.

You want to try making it a little thicker like HAL suggested? I'd be interested to see what that looks like.

Not having your model at hand to view but just going by that screen shot i have one suggestion to reduce poly count. Use more pieces. If you are making extra polys on a large flat space to intersect with your complicated portrusion you are better off making the portrusion intersect the flat space.

Just a helpful tip for all our modelers.

And guys right now if you cant produce a high quality texture/texture map please get paired up with someone who does because models are great and all but without textures they dont do much for us.
