Origianally had this in the custom ships misc thread, but I figured that if anyone needs a UZ-style base, I've got one sitting on a flash drive.

Wish bases were actually, and graphically, larger than the ships that docked in them.

In C2, most ships are smaller than the bases.(Normal Ai bases)

Stations, whether AI and dockable ones, or structures that are "called" a station, have to be bigger than the ship trying to use them, graphically. If any mass produced ship is larger than a station, it just looks wrong. While die hard players, or determined ones will not mind the difference, it does make the Finished C2 look Unfinished to new people, or in an advertisement. I know it'd be hard, or annoying to have a size change for all stations, perma drones, and astronomical bodies, but it does make SS look finished, and looking finished is very good. Looking finished brings in more people than not looking finished. Then, there is tons of open spaces in galaxies. Enlarging everything but the ships and to a lessor extent, suns, would fill in the space better, while still keeping the same travel times. _________________ Salt Assault drew this conclusion from the latest devblog. I was actually planning on doing some experiments with scale at some point. In the C2 version of Sol, we have some very small AI bases orbiting the planets and I think those look really good. I want to experiment with also making the ships smaller relative to planets and see what it looks like.

Also, it could tie into having bigger stations and certain ships. LIke capitals being much much larger than heavy fighters. _________________ P2P (Offline): Copernicus/Tycho/Kepler/Starlight Squadron/Starlight Droners Inc. On the ship sizes, which were being discussed earlier, I would not worry about it too much, especially since the new players will be piloting smaller ships anyway. Having them smaller than stations is still a very good idea, that always got to me a bit, but I can't really imagine having it much different. Just my 2 cents...

Can't use the old "The ship is way above the planet" trick when you sit on the same plane as them! _________________ Salt Assault drew this conclusion from the latest devblog.
