Here's what I have for the Death Strikers so far. I made a minor tweak to the model since there was some odd geometry, so I'll email my version to Jeff tomorrow. My plan is to have the Death Striker + glow like a cinder when out of the sunlight.

How'd you picture it? (-Death- made the model, I just did the textures on this one.)

Edit: At any rate, do you like this new version?

any changes you make you will have to send it back to me first. other wise the animation wont work properly.

also for anyone who hasnt seen the animation video, you can watch it here.

also the normal death striker map could do with some work. and i think the +version is a bit over the top.

normal version doesnt have much detial. i think it be nice with some of the panal looking things to be on the DS.

download/file.php?id=2921&mode=view

kinda like what you did there.

The black with white spots you have on the wings in the plus version will probably look really good in the game. The game currently automatically generates bump/normal maps from the texture map, so it really like high contrasts in the textures like that. This is a reason you might consider a little bit more contrast in the rest of the textures, but make sure not to make any feature too small, or else it won't really show up. DS is already really small anyway.

Not a huge fan of the ovely smooth look there, Needs more detail, texture and model. I can try do do a base texture and model if needed, i really like the dirrection you went with the textures though, just need a better base to work that concept on.

I can add hull panels to it when I get home. Right now the model is hovering around 1000-1500 polygons I think, so I don't know how much more would be practical to add model-wise for a light fighter.

Looks very nice ;) How hard would it be to make the animation move smoothly on two axises?
EDIT: well my visual graph didnt work very well, instead of them just moving just as Y (height +/-) have it move on x aswell, pulling the back of the claws closer around your thrusters and widening the distance from each of the tips.
I think it would give it the feeling of the claw opening up to rain all hell.

compared to the first model made. the DS is way better like that. for a organic ship its ment to be smooth. Also reason most people like it is because of the claw. when open the claw looks like its going to rip you lol.

Thats like telling me that the USAF's F22 Raptors are organic.
The DS is a human craft, built by humans(or at least we assume human). It may seem organic, but it's as organic as your plastic spoon.

Organic ships are tagged organic, and as of now, unpilotable.

But this does not prevent the ship from having an organic-shpped hull even if it is mechanical.

For once i agree with churchill; he's at least correct as far as the nomenclature goes. The correct phrase would be "Organic shaped" or something like that.

My take on it, 1.2k polys, bits on the top added about 400, but add allot to the character of the model.
