Ancient Scoutship needs some serious love. Right now it's all in one plane, and all very flat. The wings should either be slanted down, or somehow put on another level. The canopy and body need to be thicker in the z direction.
It might be possible to improve it significantly just by moving some vertices around and not even having to remap the texture/ _________________ For support, please create a support ticket here and I will get back to you as soon as possible. About Star Sonata. |

What about making it slant down AND up, like an X-wing?

ASS is another one of my fav ships, later when I have time I might see if I can pimp it up a bit.
Edit: This took me about 5min to do (its crocked and so isn't any good for the game) but if you like it, I can make a nice neat version for you. Also had a shot at doing two wings, it's plausible but personally I like the single wing better. (the double wing is only on the right side)

Both of those are a pretty small, but in effect huge, improvement over the current version. I encourage further development along these lines.

So I've given the Ancient Scoutship a proper go and come up with this. While the changes aren't that big, the effect as Jeff has said, is vast. My main aim was to give depth while keeping the above view as close to the same as before. Here is the .obj file as well for editing or addition to the game.

I thought I'd give the new model a go in live SS, here's some shots. You'll notice there's a visible line between the front nose of the ship and the back/wings area. I'm not sure how to flatten that out so that it doesn't catch the light in wierd ways.
Note: no change to texture was added, also the .obj in the post above has changed since I took these screenies. Now I can fly my scoutship around and not have trouble wondering why its SO DAMN FLAT. _________________ Star Sonata is not ready for a release on Steam. Here's my crack at a new model, I felt that the old one was kind of cheesy. It didn't really portray "ancient" very well, for me anyways.
Attachment: AncientScout.jpg Polys (triangles): 148 Poly count might increase a tiny bit, i need to fix a little bit of the mesh on the underside. I'll texture it if it will fit the role. Flatten out the fuselage, add intakes on the wings. Then it will look cool. Atm, it looks like a banana being peeled. _________________ Star Sonata is not ready for a release on Steam. Lol my first thought was "too 3d for a an ancientss" then I remembered that's why we're even doing this XP. Anyhoo, I think it looks pretty good, but for something that goes 700 speed, it needs a little less roundness and a little more pointy on the nose.
